Sorry, I have had allot of kit come and go and owned the AV amps and front ends at some point, can't recollect models, I owned Denon then went to Arcam and then went to Marantz. If I Ihad to do it again I would go back to Arcam but to my ears I could not live with the Denon.

I have had the Arcam, Denon and Marantz, to my ears the Denon is the leaner of the most, the Marantz is warmest and the Arcam in-between. You would be good with Arcam or Marantz to my ears.

Tough one, if it was me I would buy the Montis, I personally felt the X (Summit X / CLX etc and trickle down) really has something special, and as a CLSII owner it would be an interesting transition. The other side of the coin is if you do not have subs already (with the CLSII) then you will...

Yes that is a fair comment re the pre SST2 versions, but the SST2 is detailed but not forward at all to my ears and I used it with a couple of different pre-amps (I moved back to Ayre MXRs as there was just something I missed from them that just made me want to go back to them)

I used to have Bryston 28SST2's, they were brilliant.

I used Audioquest for approx 10 years then moved to JPS Aluminata which works well with Esls but saying that I have not used Audioquest in the last 10 years so may be a different cable all together now-days.

I would go with CAM 350, they run moderately warm, great brand stability and refined enough to work well with MLs.

Would it be a fair statement to say that as the Summit X crossover freq is at 270hz approx and Montis is 340Hz that you get more treble and midrange information through the Summit X panel even though it's the same physical size as the Montis panel? Thanks

I have not had Summits but I do know the International Sales Manager for Ayre uses MXRs with his Summits, I have used McIntosh MC275 X2 and found the Ayre MXR was the closest I could reach to those lovely valve amplifiers.

I went from SL3s to the Quests (with new panels) and definitely felt holistically I had lost something as with the SL3, the bass is pretty seamless considering its passive. The Quests I had and I am sure the Requests need an amp that can handle moving that 12 inch woofer as fast as the panel...

You will be fine and with the Spire you have bass management which can be key in small spaces, my lounge is 13ft x 19 ft with 8ft ceilings. I have had SL3s and Quests in my room.

Yes, both work very fine with Summit X's. In fact I used to have Mac C220/C46 with MC275x2 / MC501s and moved to MXRs.
