I know both well. And more , had 2 pairs of 63's, had 988's , had 989's and various MLs. CLS is a definite step up. The quads have a lovely mid-range but the ML CLS/CLX give the full sound spectrum. I am a full panel sound guy aswell.

This is a very good point made by Brad225 I had 4 X Depths without the CLX crossover. Which in retrospect I should have tried.

I can give you some of the answers. I owned SL3 , Quest then CLX. Did have four ML Depth i's on the back of my CLXs. In the end I actually preferred the natural textured bass of the panel on its own - there was an issue that when the subs were on I lost the naturalness of the treble, mid how...

I used to have 4 of them with my CLX, they are great fast subs. I liked them allot.

Have you thought about moving the 13's for that size room, 11's can of course work depending on your proximity. I always felt there was something about the 13s that I really liked and that was having listened to the 9's,11's,13's ... I never spent enough time with the 15's to come away with a view.

Lovely view, funnily enough I have never tilted the Logans I had forward only backward.

SL3 were my first Logan, lovely integrated speaker.

Honestly I think the Summit and Summit X were so way before their time, I absolutely loved their balance. Just saying !

In the past I used 4 Depths...on the LS27 just use your second pair of RCA outs to the RCA inputs on your Depths RCA inputs. Then play with the dials to crossover for both to suit the room. I used a McIntosh C46 and Ayre MXR at the time.

I used Ayre MXRs monos with the Quests and they were eaten alive (watts are definitely different than current as we all know), they were good enough just for the panel. For the woofers used Bryston 21B monos, they were brilliant at handling the bass but did not have the musicality of the MXRs...

Have any of you Bi-amped the ESL 9? or heard how it sounds?

One consideration that I found with my Quests was I did not have a powerful enough amplifier dampening the woofers. So went too the Bryston 28SST monos, they completely solved the bass beautifully.

Be interested to understand which amplifiers give the best bass for panels and / or passive Logan's?
