    $500 interconnects?

Ok, so on another forum I frequent, a fellow is selling all his quite expensive and impressive gear. Short story is, I got a set of $500 Fadel Art interconnects from him for a steal. Now, having NO experience with that kind of expensive item, I am not sure what to listen for after installing...

    Brightness/Harshness revisited

I think I have determined that most of my harshness is coming from my dvr. My dvd's sound ok in a HT set up. I am going to look up the DSP-A1 and see what that is...

How come we are tilting our speakers when they are not manufactured straight up?

What would you most like to see in the next generation of MLs?

I'd like to see a new center channel that uses an electrostatic panel but is shorter from side-to-side than some of past offerings. More panel in a smaller unit.

Jonfo, I didn't mean 3 hours one way...still...you and I both know how we feel doing that much driving. I feel like the guy in the commerical in the 80's..."Time to make the donuts."

    Brightness/Harshness revisited

Thank you Rich, for being my voice of reason. I was about to plunk down. Realistically, what I should do is wait for the pre-processor to come out that matches this new amp I purchased. Will be months until its released, so I will have some waiting to do. Tks for the input.

    Brightness/Harshness revisited

Thanks guys. I am listening to you. Let me take this on a different angle for a minute. I guess my receiver has only 20-bit 48 khz DACs. What if I got a new receiver with 24 bit 96khz DACs or one with Burr-Brown 192kHz/24-bit DACs used in all channels. Do you think this would help, using...

    Brightness/Harshness revisited

I don't have a room correction mode on my particular unit. Didn't need it, anyway before the panel upgrade. Always ran everything flat. But, you have a point with the treble control. I grew up with the notion that adjusting that control would be heresey. :o

Well, looks like I will send 'em in and see whats what. I have been sitting on my RMA, cause I just thought it couldn't be anything with the speakers/internals.

    Brightness/Harshness revisited

Yes, they should be broken in. Replaced in Feb. Jim Powers said he'd check the electronics, if I would send them in. Haven't done that yet. May end up doing that next...hate to totally lose my system for a few weeks. That is what is keeping me from sending the electronics in. I looked inside...

    Brightness/Harshness revisited

Good Morning. Ok, so I've been dealing with this harshness/brightness issue after replacing my Aerius I panels with new ones. The forum has suggested: A. The new panels are more revealing of my sound sources and that B. I am hearing the true SQ of my Yamaha receiver. Over the past 4...

    Speaker positioning, observation

Mine have been set much like User122 above for 8 years. A note: I've had my speakers toed using the "listen to the inner third of the panel" via the flashlight technique etc. I was looking at the CLX manual and they have included a flashlight diagram in the manual. However, the light...

vertical azimuth close to perpendicular Can you describe this differently. Not sure I understand your description. Are you meaning the panels are straight and not slanted toward the rear wall?

What do panels sound like when overdriven?

I spent a great deal of my 4th doing critical listening and "cranking" my system with my new amplifier (Emotiva). Happily, I didn't break anything but did push my setup quite a bit. (to the point of sound stage collapse etc.) Although I spent a good deal of time doing speaker setup years...

What do panels sound like when overdriven?

Ok, thanks. I'll watch out for rattling. I'm pushing them hard today and don't want to hurt the speaker. Thks.

What do panels sound like when overdriven?

I have never heard my speakers distort before in the 8 years I've run them. Probably because I have never overdriven them. However, I just added an outboard amplifer to my setup and am tempted to crank it up more than in the past. What would I need to listen for if I am over driving them? I...

Please recommend budget $1,000 amp for Vistas--What would *you* buy?

I went the Emotiva Lpa-1 route. It is on my porch right now, so I will mess with it when I get home. Dipping toe into separates, so I will use my Yamaha receiver as a preamp to this new amp to power my Aerius I with new panels. And see what happens.
