    CLS refurb cost

it is interesting to see all those that have had the cls speakers are drawn back to them over and over again. I was lucky to find a used pair with brand new panels. I will never sell them.... I still look at used ones to have the electronics as a backup as (currently)new panels are easy to...

    CLS owners question

Mikesinger, Please post how hard it is to integrate 2 descent subs with the cls's. I currently have 1 descent with my CLS's and was toying with the idea of getting a 2nd but have heard it is harder to make 2 disappear than 1. thanks

CLS Bound ............A trip to KC for pick up..

CAP, Welcome to the CLS club, this is only the beginning. I powered my CLS with Krell and was satisfied until.......... I switched to a mc275 and 2220 McIntosh tubes. There is a world of difference with tubes.....planting the seed.... :D

What will the new CLX do that the Summit does not?

Sorry if I am taking this topic a little off course but last week Wilson Audio and Classe was at one of our "high end" audio stores to demonstrate their products. The price for the Wilsons was 40k and up. I was shocked, 20k sounds very expensive compared to the "old" CLS price point but within...

    CLS IIz Trim Rails?

Not sure what finish you are looking for but the panels are easily removed from the CLS as well as the electronics. It would be easy to sand the existing panels and stain/paint them any color you wanted.

    Which CLS is this?

I've have seen CLS 1's go from 995-1500. The 995.00 speakers were listed as needing new panels. I paid 2000.00 for mine with brand new panels and a warranty on the panels. ML does warranty the new panels! So for a used set with good working panels 1100-1600? ML will still repair the...

    Which CLS is this?

BigBanger, The electronics look like what I have which are CLS 1's. The panels look like they have been replaced though. Are there separate different serial #'s on the panels? They will be on the back bottom of each panel if they have been replaced. My serials are 3880, 3881 for the...

Which CLS is regarded as best sounding?

There's a pair of IIzs on the big auction site at the moment, but the guy wants $2500 BigBanger, That is way to high for IIz's. I have seen IIz's for 2000.00. I paid 2000.00 for my CLS 1's with brand new panels. You will have no problems driving them with your amp.... never listen to them...

Which CLS is regarded as best sounding?

BigBanger, What type of amplifier are you planning to use to drive the CLS. To be honest I think you would be pleased with any of the versions of the CLS. I haven't heard to many complaints from all CLS version owners. I think you could get a CLS 1 for around 1000.00 and new panels for...

What is the truth regarding speaker wire?

Not endorsing these cables but they do have interesting explanations of how cables can effect signals/sound/ etc. http://www.bluejeanscable.com/articles/index.htm

Which CLS is regarded as best sounding?

That is a tough question to answer as it is very subjective. I have the CLS 1 that has had the panels replaced and I love them. I am a former Quest owner. I have not heard the other CLS versions though. It is a slippery slope owning the CLS's though as they are very revealing with the sources...

    New CLS panels...

slownlo, You will love the difference new panels make, just be sure to not expect much when you first listen to them. They definitely need quite a few hours to break in.... Happy Listening.

    New CLS panels...

Actually, if I remember correctly there are 2 replacement panels, one for the older cls model and one for the cls IIz. I have the old electronics with a new "old" replacement panel. If you do not run a subwoofer it was my understanding that the new old replacement panel was a better match with...

    What preamp are you using?

Just replaced a Krell KBL with a McIntosh C2200. Tubes is the way to go.

    McIntosh MC275 CLS and Krell

Maybe I should start a new thread but an update, the Krell KBL is now gone and in it's place is a Mac C2200, what a difference. I am leaning now towards getting another MC275 to power the CLS's.... when does this upgrade urge end?

    Photography Club!

You will enjoy the Rebel XTi, I am a professional photographer and have been for over 25 years, I used Nikon and Hasselblad until Canon came out with the N series film cameras. They just focused better than the F4 at the time. I now use Canon 1ds, 5d's, and 1d cameras with L series lenses. The...

    McIntosh MC275 CLS and Krell

Edwinr, I failed to include a connection difference with the 2nd audition of the MC275 to my CLS's. My MIT speaker cable is biwire after a junction box and I only connected the mid/high end cable to the CLS's and not the bass cable. I use the spade connection to the cls screw terminal and then...

    McIntosh MC275 CLS and Krell

Update: I ripped the zip wire out and found an electronics parts store that carried old terminal speaker connectors like I am waiting for to come from Hong Kong but with a hole in the center to place one half of the spade in and it tightens down with a screw. Reconnected all connections turned...
