    Piano Black

Here, someone try this with their CLS frames and let us know how it goes. I bet C.A.P. and others would have no problems with converting frames to a Piano Black Finish. http://www.lungster.com/l/speakers/pianofinish.shtml

    iPad is here!

Mantana, Good points, would I like to have one and would it come in handy, sure, Apple has one of the if not the best user interface engineers for it's products. It just is too spendy by the time you get a 64GB model and I agree with Jeff in his review concerning the sd and usb slots that should...

    Question about CD Burning?

You better check to make sure your Denon player will read a FLAC file, very few will. You will probably have to burn a WAV file to make it compatible for the Denon player.

    Jim Power is RETIRING!

Interesting response I received back from Jim Power. "As for me, I haven't retired. After 22 years, my position has been 'down-sized'. Some production has moved to Canada and some positions have been eliminated. Melodie & Dana will still be here to help you. I will take some time off, relax...

Jim, It is with mixed feelings that I congratulate you on your upcoming retirement. You have deserved the rest and relaxation along with a new lifestyle but will be sorely missed by all in the Martin Logan community. CLS in bay area? Audition in exchange for beer or wine

I agree with Raanan, it is a no brainer... CLS are amazing if you can find a pair with new panels you will not be disappointed.

Descent - Switches and low pass filter

Darude, There is really no correct volume setting for the Descent, it is all system dependent. My volume level with my CLS's is approximately 2.5, it was different when I had a different amp/preamp combination. I have mine set to the 40hz position, I would think your SL3's put out more bass...

    new CLS ii owner

MLFan, I have had a Krell KSA250-KBL, MC275, McIntosh MC252, Sanders amps through my CLS's. I still prefer my McIntosh MC275 and C2200 preamp combo. Once again it all depends on the music you listen to. The MC275 definitely is smooth and refined but lacks some of the detail and punch of a big...

    new CLS ii owner

MLFan, I think Craig is warning that the low impedance load from the CLS on your receiver could and probably would damage it. Craig is also correct concerning any good high current tube or solid state amplifier will drive the CLS. The cls is a very analytical speaker and it is very easy to...

    Quest repairs

Scott, Not sure if you need the side rails or you just need to take them off. To remove the side rails I used a block of wood and hit the bottom of the rail and they will slide up and then you can remove them. Depending on the age of your quest yours may remove by hitting the top. Check with...

Just ordered a Mac 402 for my Spires!

I have the MC275 with the 2200 preamp driving my CLS1's and have exactly the same perspective as you do with the sound... I have listened to my system with a MC252 and it definitely gets rid of the congestion, but I missed the lushness of the 275 especially on vocals. I will be interested in...

    NAD and QUEST Z

CAP is so right, when I first wanted to go tubes I first tried a tube amp with the Krell preamp and it was okay but nothing to really get excited about. I then purchased a McIntosh C2200 tube preamp to go with the McIntosh MC275 and it was a whole different story. Of course I was still curious...

Is there any sound at all coming from the panels? You may want to check the connections to the panels. I have replaced the panels on Quests and if it is similar you will have to remove the grill cloth from the woofer and the side trim rails to remove the panels to check the connections at the...

    CLS alert

I should have bought a spare set of panels when they were 900.

What is the Best way to connect Decent i and which ends?

Oh, I see the problem now. Ideally you would want to connect the xpa-5 ch amp to all the connections on the 7.1 outputs with the obvious exception of the LFE going to the Descent. I would still connect the XPA-1 monoblocks the way I described previously, now the problem would be you will have...

What is the Best way to connect Decent i and which ends?

From the pics of the back of the preamp it looks like you have 2 variable stereo outputs which one is a main zone and a second zone 2 but I assume you could turn zone 2 and the main zone on at the same time with the same input. If this is so, you would not need a y cable and you could connect...

What is the Best way to connect Decent i and which ends?

Yes I have the sub connected to both a preamp and a surround sound receiver, and I am mistaken I do have right and left inputs on the sub, I do have a y connector but I think it is for a ground loop isolator that I had to insert between the preamp amp combo if I am not mistaken. I can't check...
