How Great is the Sanders Magtech?

Justin, you must at least have a coffee mug or drink coaster or something with an ML logo on it... just so you can retract that god-awful "that's the end" statement.

3D Projector Talk, Anyone here thinking about getting one?

IMO, the glasses-free tech has a really, really long way to go before issues like parallax distortion are suitably addressed. As an aside, the media receiver for my 7 yr old Pioneer Elite Plasma (family room TV) bit the dust a few weeks ago. I looked into repairing it myself (non-trivial - I...

3D Projector Talk, Anyone here thinking about getting one?

For many of the reasons you state, I'll be putting off 3D projection until the tech matures a bit more (much to my son's chagrin). Good luck with your next move.

No proud displaying of repulsive components? That's my new m.o. Congrats and hope it works out well for you!

Welcome to the party Russ :)

Is there a good return policy on it? Buy it and listen to your system for a week or so with it installed. Then take it out and see if the sound signature has changed. Then decide whether or not to keep it. my 2 pence

How Great is the Sanders Magtech?

I like the EAR aesthetic despite it's non-blendability with my preferred maple&black motif. As an aside, I am wickedly loving this whole system-always-on thing. I came in here this morning, cued up a tune via Olive-iPhone app and it just sounded "right" - sweet, clear, well balanced and...

    where to put the turntable?

Maybe to the left of the left side-surround on that back left side-wall? (I suppose stand mounted or wall mounted as you say) This placement may require sacrificing one of the five chairs... but then I guess it's a matter of priority. As an example, I have 7 chairs in my HT (more or less fixed)...

How Great is the Sanders Magtech?

On the regen - beware any fan noise! Not sure about the Inspired, but the PPP, when tasked, would "fan up" and by no means was it subtle. That's one reason why I chose RSA. Intergalactic space wishes it were that quiet. I did see on Inspired's site where they spend a fair amount of time talking...

How Great is the Sanders Magtech?

Never asked?? That's my pick-up line! (though I should consider changing it given the spotty results ;))

I also knew a Lana, but she didn't do ... (hope I don't get booted for inference :))

How Great is the Sanders Magtech?

LOL... I couldn't agree more - That's why if you look in the larger picture, you basically just see a nondescript black "something" on the lower left shelf. That's not by accident. In fact, I find the basic W4S design in general to be some of the least aesthetically pleasing of almost everything...

    Enough Power?

There's always a right answer... too bad I lean left ;)

    Enough Power?

But isn't your example Spike already covered to some degree by Hocky's statement "if they don't, they're poorly designed or broken"... I would consider an amp with audible self-noise at the listening position to be poorly designed.

Pretty sure the stereo mag should sport the ubiquitous blue light too (but maybe not? - perhaps a quick email to Roger). You have more trouble with LED indication lights ;)

How Great is the Sanders Magtech?

Thanks! And yes - on the R/C, I figure a quick call to W4S would likely produce a more elegant solution than my "eyepatch" approach... but it's working fine now so no hurry on that. I was just playing some exceedingly well recorded classical (Corrette) and wow does this system shine! As I...

How Great is the Sanders Magtech?

This preamp is truly balanced input to output... so I'm running balanced (solid silver) from the DAC2 to the pre, and same from the pre to the monos. Running SE from the SACD player to the pre as the Oppo93 only offers unbalanced outputs. In fact, looking around for a better SACD player (pref...

    Enough Power?

Very much in line with Roger Sander's mindset... it's only when operating amps outside their designed operating range that they begin to show significant individuality. That said, his other assertion (which I completely agree with) is that people routinely underpower their speakers. Proper...

How Great is the Sanders Magtech?

Can't let you have all the fun Justin old chap. The new W4S pre has arrived - neither presented with fanfare upon a satin pillow nor drop-kicked from the curb - but in fact unceremoniously left to it's own defenses just inside the garage. Good thing I got to it before my freshly licensed 16 yr...

How Great is the Sanders Magtech?

Well it's a bit of a conflicting message from W4S since the STP-SE apparently switches to true-passive mode for low-ish volume settings. All very curious - further underscoring my evaluation anticipation. And yes, I would love to directly compare the beauty with the beast (I'm talking pre-amps...
