the f113s? Those are supposed to be some killer HT subs. No idea what their rep is supposed to be in terms of "musicality" though.

Did you hear Auditor + good sub vs Cremonas? It would be an interesting comparison.

Sonus Faber Cremona Auditor vs Concertino Domus A/B Comparison Review

Think you got the prices mixed up up top... Great review, much appreciated! The auditors use some great drivers, and look to have good cabinet design, and it appears to have paid off!

    Woah...talk about helpful! :D

These are some of the questions that make an active solution very attractive.

Haha. Love the name of the stereo! Best of luck with the wedding! We'll keep you in the loop. :rocker:

A good starting point for crossover design from...

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

Not all servo subs are accelerometer based. http://rythmikaudio.com/servosurvey.html Transient response is shown in the graph in the adire audio showing the signal peaks...which show the mass loading having no effect on said transient response. As you mentioned, it is related to...

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

Thanks for making this into such an interesting thread, nsgarch. (for me at least :D) I'm always interested in learning more, or clarifying what I already think I know. Doesn't transient response really only apply to higher frequencies?

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

AH!!!! We've been talking about very different things then. My apologies. I don't dispute this point, as I indeed have no knowledge (secondhand or otherwise) on this subject...so can't agree or disagree. The tests shown in the adire article suggested that mass loading a cone caused a...

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

The part that has to do with mass/inertia, etc, has to do with acceleration, which has much more to do with the efficiency/sensitivity than the "speed." The force that is accelerating the cone in one direction is the same one that's accelerating it back in the other when the signal changes. F...

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

Right, it's more like 64%. So it would have to move 1.5625 times as far to move the same amount of air. Cone area is pi*r^2. 4^2 = 16, 5^2 is 25 15/25 = .64 Either way, it's linear. Doesn't matter if it's 1" or 50", the concept remains the same. And I think it's me who's supposed to...

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

:D Probably not. I'm decidedly hard-headed! I'm very happy with my 12" sub as it stands, but will try to demo it against the Depth i when I get the chance...to see what I think the subjective differences are.

No, no, that's purely coincidental. (This post counts, right?) :D
  15. I

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

Haha, I think that's fair. Baby steps, right? :D
  16. I

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

It has to cover twice the distance to produce the same output at the same frequency, ie, it has to move half the air twice as far. But the mass is unrelated to the rate of change of acceleration, as the mass is constant. The ability of the diaphram to change direction instantly has to do with...

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

It is indeed. From a technical standpoint I think it's beautiful :D I think in general it's a great looking sub...I just can't stand the grill in the front. Glad to hear you're up for the meet!

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

I found it! :D http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/WooferSpeed.pdf Very interesting article.
  19. I

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

That has more to do with the voice coil inductance (Le) than with the mass or area of the cone, for the reason I stated before...that an 8" cone has to be moving a lot faster to cover twice the distance as the 10" for the same output at the same frequency. that 8" cone has just as much momentum...

Descent vs Descent i vs Depth i

Sorry...I'll try to find this other article...but I really don't know enough to discuss this in depth...in theory though, yes.
