I`ve tried damping behind the Summits and that took all life out of the sound, I now use 2 diffusors behind each Summit at 60cm x 150cm which makes a big leap in performance of the Summits. These are made by Svanå at Svanå Miljøteknik Here`s a pic of them.

The player on the left is a highly modified (to say the least) Esoteric UX-01, called Apl Hifi NWO-2.5.

I just got my new Wolcott 280-S tube amp, it really rocks the Summits as even my Pass Labs X350.5 could NOT :eek: You ought to read some about this $6500 amp :)

Calling names is really unneccessary, if you have no arguments it`s better to keep quiet. I`ve had both the Summits and the CLS in my room at the same time, and having tested I can say to all who thinks the Summits have some fault in the integration betwen panel and woofer, to either be deaf...

My Pass will be put up for sale if it gets beaten by the Wolcott :)

So I made up my mind, I just ordered Wolcott :)

Has anyone here heard Wolcott or Moscode on stats? They are suppose to deliver SS control in the bass with all the treats of tubes intact.

No more Meridian here, I`m running the APL hifi NWO-2 cd with built in preamp using 6H30 DR tubes. So, there are going to be tubes or hybrid amps (Moscode) in my system :)

I`ve talked to Mick Maloney and his new Supratek Malbek KT88s are made to drive electrostatic panels, he`s using them to drive MLs himself :) They are 100watts pr. block and incorporate 4xKT88 a side.

My reasons for my list is first that these are cheaper in Norway than the US, relatively speaking :) Supratek, Wolcott and VAC I can import myself and get it a lot cheaper than the other brands that go through a distributor. The main things I like about the Supratek and Wolcotts is the damping...

But if you want state of the art stereo you need a second setup. As superior as the Meridian setup is on multichannel there are amny players/dacs that are better for pure 2-channel performance. I`ve owned Meridian 861 for 6 years and the 800 and G98.

Thanks for the answers here: 1. Of course do I know the Summits have bulit in amplification for the woofers, to imply otherwise is beyond me. But nevertheless, these amps derive their signal from the panels inputs and therefore the supplied signal must be of good quality in the bass :) I`ve not...
