    Best speaker cable for CLS?

Just to throw a wrench in this cable discussion with CLS, I have used various Tara Labs cables with good results with my CLSiiZ and (bi-wire) Sequel ii's.. The one cable I settled on for both pairs and I am sure I am going to get some static are somewhat unconventional. All cables add, more or...

    23 years of building this

Welcome back! My system has been building and changing over 20 years as well. I think I am close to being done because I am retired and the "extra' money is hard to come by. :) I too have the Pangea stands in I think they call it dark coffee. Looks like black but in the light you do see some...

    CLS strengths and weaknesses

I have been driving my CLSiiZ's with a Pass Labs, X150.8. It is effortless. I had replaced a Conrad Johnson Premier 350 with the Pass Labs. The Pass Labs has much more control over the low end. The CJ had mid-range which was wonderful. I the CLS is an experiment in room placement, equipment...

    CLS Crossover

I believe mine (CL:SiiZ) is set at 80 to 100. I don't remember exactly but it also depends on your room so experiment and see what "sounds" good to you. :)

    CLS help in Indianapolis

Doug, Well, I am in California, but my kids have left long ago. It is just me and my dog so there is really nothing keeping me here. My daughter lives in in the Indianapolis suburbs. I have visited her and seems like a nice place to retire. I was raisied in the Mid-West so I am familiar. :)...

    CLS help in Indianapolis

Doug, I have CLS iiZ's. These were originally IIA and upgraded. It was basically an electronics upgrade. I also have a RA-500 which I used to power my older Sequel ii's and it worked OK. It was not as good as I hoped but as you said it will work when your "main" amp is being repaired. Have you...

Acoustical wall panels - any Pics or advise ?

I too have GIK panels. They were great to work with when I had questions. I guess it depends on what you need for your room. I have had mine for over 10 years and except for the occasional dusting they just work. I actually covered two of them with my own my material I purchased. It has to...

New Member - Hello from Des Moines, Iowa!

Welcome! I am sure you will get a ton of suggestions on amps. It is all a matter of synergy with everything else you have at the moment. I have a pair of CLSiiZ's and my rears are Sequel ii's. I power the CLS with a Pass Labs 150.8 and the Sequels since they are rear speakers are power by a...

    BalancedForce placement question

Mike, Sounds like you are doing OK. a rug will help with some reflection (bounce) off the floor. A non-symmetrical room is actuall a bit better than a perfect square or rectangle type of room, in my opinion. I actually have no "back" wall in my room because it leads to the kitchen. I too have...

    BalancedForce placement question

Mike, I have an original Depth which has three 8"speakers instead of your two 10"s. I have place mine similar to yours about 8 feet from my "listening chair. It is in the middle of the wall on the right side. The left side is a sliding glass door! One of the tricks is to move it around until...

Options for refreshing/replacing my 28 year old CLS speakers.

I have a pair of CLSiiZ's and the electronics are different between each version of the CLS. The original CLS were very hard on amps because they would dip to under 2 ohms. The CLS iiA were an improvement and the last version which is the iiZ was a culmination of improvements and was a little...

    CLS owner intro

I checked against the Serial Number sheet I have and they are the original panels. The CS refers to CLS. The "1" refers to probably the first version of the stat panel. "E" is the year 1993 and "F" is the month which June and they were the 702 & 3 made. I hope that helps.

    CLS owner intro

Welcome Carlsbad, I also have a pair of CLS's. They are actually CLSiiZ's. All the answers are correct and the panels have serial numbers on them so you should be able to track down their age. The way I set up my CLS's was first to get them about where I thought they should be and then small...
