    Toronto Audio Show

I used iTunes to rip around 20 CD's for when I travel. Most of the CD's didn't automatically display the artwork. They are mostly classical music which were recorded in the 80's onwards. I had to search on the web and copy/past the artwork, a time consuming process. If I had a better artwork...

    Toronto Audio Show

The two players that I heard were from Hegal (Mohican) and Metronome. Amazing sound, natural, detailed and often riveting. But it's a good question, there were many rooms using a server or streaming source. I have around 500 CD's and do not want to pay for them again in order to get computer...

    Toronto Audio Show

Nola bookshelf speakers and subs threw a huge soundstage and detailed image for such a small speaker. As usual, my ML-spoiled ears heard boominess in the bass.

Coherent speakers had a relaxing, organic sound. Even when standing at the door to the hotel room I could hear the soundstage and image. Definitely worth further investigation.

Magico speakers certainly grab your attention. There's great impact and detail, but sometimes I felt that the higher frequencies were too harsh. Of course, I'm hearing all of these systems in hotel rooms and not at audio stores that have been optimally configured.

The Magnepan 20.7 produce a wall of sound in a different way than electrostatic speakers. I remember listening to one of the Magnepan models in 2006 but I thought that I could hear a low level distortion so I continued auditioning and came across the ML Summit and never looked back. The 20.7 had...

Muraudio hybrid electrostatic speakers have a continuous curve electrostatic transducer and aluminum cone woofers powered by two 700w class D amps. The soundstage was amazing but I thought the lower registers were a little boomy.

    Toronto Audio Show

I attended the TAVES Consumer Electronics Show at a hotel in the suburbs of Toronto. Below are a few photos taken on my IPhone SE. I always come away from these audio shows feeling good about my ML Summit speakers, so it's well worth the entrance fee. However, I heard a couple of CD players that...

    More Feet/Spike Advice

Thanks to Gordon Gray's posting in this thread I researched the Mapleshade products and purchased plinths and brass footers for my Summits. I'm amazed at the resulting improvement to the musical soundstage and clarity. I'm hearing instruments and sounds that were hidden when I was using BDR...

    System #114 (Summit)

Speaker plinth and footers for the Summit I've replaced the BDR pucks with a speaker plinth and brass footers. Mapleshade produces them. It was a leap of faith to make such a major change and investment, but I'm very happy with the results. The speakers have completely disappeared; the sound...

    System #114 (Summit)

Hi: I've made a few small changes to the system. The most significant change was to increase the room liveliness by removing some of the Echo Buster panels and columns. This was based on an analysis using the XTZ room analyzer (http://www.xtzsound.eu/en/products/measurements/room-analyzer-ii-pro)

    flat screen tv above fireplace

Hi: I recently installed my flat screen TV above the fireplace. The viewing angle is fine, and like KODG said, it’s a big space saver. Moving the TV from the top shelf allows me to use the space for my integrated amp, as shown in the picture below. Bill.

Hi: Good point about direct sunlight. The few times of the year when this is an issue I make use of my shades  (window shades, that is).

    System #114 (Summit)

Update: I've moved the speakers away from the windows to the side wall. Improvements resulted in the low frequencies and imaging. I love cost-free upgrades! I'm thinking of mounting the TV on the wall and moving the EAR V20 integrated amp to the top shelf in order to showcase its beauty.

    System #114 (Summit)

Hi: Thanks for your comments. Someone suggested that this was an "ancient Chinese secret" that improved the sound, but after trying it for a few weeks I decided the speakers sounded better without crossing over the wires so they're back to normal. Bill.

    CLX in Toronto

I attended an open house at Audio Excellence, a stereo shop in the suburbs of Toronto. A representative of the Canadian distributor for MartinLogan, Terry Richardson, was on hand to discuss and demo the CLX. I arrived early so I could have a few minutes listening in the sweet spot. As you can...

What is the Best CD to show off ML Vantages?

Hi: One of my favorite demos is the Blade Runner soundtrack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blade_Runner_(soundtrack)). It helps if your guests are fans of the movie. Another favorite is Cantate Domino on the Proprius label. The XRCD version by JVC Japan is worth the extra money. Music includes...

Copper Shielding around AC Connectors--A Cheap Tweak

Hi: An inexpensive tweak--copper shielding around the connectors on power cables. Check out the video ... http://www.youtube.com:80/watch?v=piPI_ByD0Q0 Now, the bit about loading CDs twice is weird. I wonder what's behind this phenomena.

    Summits Take a Hike

A Summit speaker has two 10" woofers--one facing forward and one downward. Each woofer has a 200 watts/channel amplifier. Both woofers cover the same frequencies, from 24Hz up to the panel crossover at 270Hz. The 25Hz and 50Hz amplifier controls at the back of the speaker cabinet affect the two...

Hi: For many years I've been using a CD lens cleaner which I purchased from a trusted source, UHF Magazine. It's called the Milty CD Lens Cleaner. The URL is: http://uhfmag.com/Digital.html
