How about a Zoom session to commemorate the new site and 13th anniversary of our visit to ML in Lawrence, KS?

If you don’t mind, I would like to invite my friend Jason to the meetup. He’s not on this site, but he was the original president of the club, in collaboration with Tom. He’s thinking of getting back into audio, and would like to say hello to Tom and any others who were on the forum back in the day.

Tilting forward the Renaissance ESL 15A

The panels are 69” out from the window. Roll-down blinds are tucked away at the top of the window, but I enjoy the view too much to use them. In any case, they only made a small difference. When the speakers were vertical they sounded amazing, but tilting them forward brought them to another...

Tilting forward the Renaissance ESL 15A

Hi: I’m experimenting with tilting the speakers forward and liking what I hear. The Renaissance’s are 9 1/2 feet apart, measured from the centre of each panel, and my listening chair is 11 feet back. I purchased the speakers last August, and am still playing with their position. I wonder if it...

Please count me in. Maybe each of us could give a short one-minute introduction.

    System #114 (Summit)

The Isoacoustics GAIA footers (http://www.isoacoustics.com/products/gaia-series/gaia-i/) are amazing. They have the most impact of any tweak in my system.

I am listening to Prokofiev on a new pair of 15a Renaissance speakers. Heavenly.

    Martin Logan today

Martin Logan has a large room at the Toronto Audio Fest show happening this weekend (http://torontoaudiofest.org/). I think it's one of the top rooms, and it indicates they're doing well. Bill.

You're welcome Herman. It's always fun meeting club members in person. After you left my place I adjusted the speaker toe-in based on your comments. You'll have to come again to hear the improvement. Bill.

Room Acoustics - Absorption Panels Behind ML's

On this quite Sunday I've decided to follow the suggestions in this and other similar threads to improve the setup in my challenging listening room. I don't have the depth needed for optimal distance from the back wall so I've placed them 40" from the wall and added Echo Buster diffusion panels...

Foundation Research Power Cord With Integral Conditioner

Hi Bernard: A local dealer provided me with an in-house demo of the Foundation Research LC10. I was so impressed that I purchased four of them, one each for my Summit's, CD player and integrated amp. I think it was around 2008. Recently the same dealer allowed me to try the Audiomica...

Confessing to not cleaning my ELS panels

Here's some advice I recently received from ML technical support: The only routine maintenance we recommend is to occasionally vacuum your speaker as described here: In order to clean the stator panels correctly, please unplug the speakers from the AC mains and let them sit for at least 4-6...

    System #503 (CLX Art)

Hi Michael: I've read a few posting from members recommending absorbing panels behind ML speakers. I see that you're also doing this. I've placed my old Echo Buster absorbing panels on a stool behind my Summit speakers and found that the midrange is more detailed and focused. Your endorsement...

    Summit 25&50 control

Sage advice Roberto. After listening to Beethoven symphony #7 (La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, Carlo Giulini conducting) at various settings I found the zero setting for both woofers sounds best. The midrange is clearer and instrument timbre more realistic than at higher settings. Nice to find...

    Summit 25&50 control

I have both controls set to +4. The timpani, cellos, basses, and other large instruments sound more realistic at this setting. Is your floor hardwood or carpeted? Do the spikes go directly into the surface of the floor?

    Summit 25&50 control

I used to have the controls at zero but after installing maple plinths under the speakers I increased the settings to +4. I set it by ear soon after listening to live music. Not that I was trying to replicate a 50 piece orchestra in a hall seating 2,600 people...

    System #114 (Summit)

After purchasing Mapleshade plinths my friends were impressed with the results. Not to waste an opportunity I arranged to sell them at cost and purchase the top of the line Mapleshade plinths in a cherry finish. They are not only works of art but sound fantastic. The music floats between the...

    Toronto Audio Show

I've saved the best for last. The Mingus Quintet speaker from Marten in Holland was the best cone-based speaker I heard at the show. The bass was solid and powerful without any boominess. Instruments and vocals sounded realistic. Maybe I liked them because they sounded like my electrostatic...

The Acoustic Solid tables are made in the German countryside. Another successful use of thick wood. They key is to use large solid pieces (a few that are glued together), not many smaller pieces or particle board.

    Toronto Audio Show

Euphoria Speaker Design is located near Toronto. They were showing the TARIM speaker. What attracted me to the room other than the nice sounds was the turntable with a huge wooden base. The speaker designer was in the room and explained how a local lumber yard obtained the wood and cut it to his...
