System #152 (Prodigy, Theater, Ascent, Script, Descent)

Do you still play your vinyl? I don't see a record player in the main list. I still collect Jazz records and get a lot of hand-me-down LP's from people who no longer have a record player. If you set up a record player right it can at times beat a CD player, specially in smoothness

    System #178 (Mosaic, Fresco, Grotto)

captain_tinker, that's what I thought: the ATF comes close to a Ribbon speaker. I now see that your running a 5.1 HT with your old speakers as rears. The main listing makes your system seem as a 3.1 HT. Tell me about the vignettes, are they also ATF? What would you buy if you use the Mosaics as...

    System #178 (Mosaic, Fresco, Grotto)

captain_tinker, I never seen nor heard the Mosaics. I went to the Martin Logan timeline in this forum and read up on them. The covers seem to cover above the driver elements...and seems to look like a normal ESL, but are a Thin Film. What is the difference between this and lets say a Ribbon driver?

Pcar, which Petra CD is your favorite?

System #152 (Prodigy, Theater, Ascent, Script, Descent)

Ahhh...so your on line now...this is almost a chat room :) Is Petra still around? Do you listen to Russian or Gregorian chat? I write alot of reviews about "Iona" in Amazon.com...their lastest stuff is more rockish. See...

System #152 (Prodigy, Theater, Ascent, Script, Descent)

Pcar, I find the Martin Logans sound best with jazz and classical music because they radiate music rather than Bomb Blast it. Also basic Rock-N-Roll without the sound effects don't need a sweet spot, but need speakers that carry the music thru out a house specially during a party. Sometimes I am...

    System #171 (Odyssey)

Vern, I talked about the floor flooring years ago, but something else is always happening. Right now we are finishing up a bathroom. I even had strength to hang up the rear carpet behind the stereo today, but when I was repairing a closet door, one part didn't fit, so a 10 minute job took me a...

    System #174 (CLSIIz, SL3)

I was writing in another post with a member that had both the Prodigy and Ascent and asked if the panel width made any difference because I used to have the SL3 and now I have the Odyssey and both have the same panel width. Thanks for the information

    System #171 (Odyssey)

charliemike, your SL3's have the same light oak finish mine had. It's like seeing my lost buddy, my Odyssey's are soild black. Say, reading about your system it states something about moving and not listening to the speakers. Are you writing about the SL3's or the Clarity's?

    System #172 (Ascent i)

Bob, ahhh...that was my next question. It's just amazing what bi-wires do. I believe I lost all my clips. They are somewhere around the house. I also have back up speakers: NHT VT-2 that are in the garage that I am trying to sell, but it has no clips because I was bi-wiring it, and everyone I...

    System #172 (Ascent i)

Bob, so you still have the clip between the bass and panel inputs?

System #152 (Prodigy, Theater, Ascent, Script, Descent)

Pcar, If you ever test out the theory, let me know the out come. I have a rocking chair in the middle of the sweet spot with a coffe table inbetween with another rocking chair that is off to the right speaker side and the stereo effect is almost lost at that chair. If I remember right, the...

    System #172 (Ascent i)

Bob, I have been out the audio current for awhile, does Odyssey still only sell direct? I never knew they had mono blocks...good choice for front stereo speakers. Have you tried Vertical Passive Bi Amplification per amp by seperating the bass speaker wires from the panel speaker wires? In other...

System #152 (Prodigy, Theater, Ascent, Script, Descent)

Pcar, as your system has the Prodigys as front mains and the Ascents as rears, what can you tell me about the differences of the sweet spot due to width of the panels? Let me write it this way; I owned the SL3 for 8 years and just upgraded to the Odyssey. The Odysseys are faster and cleaner with...

Robin, I wrote this in another post, I have a pre-line volume control unit but I got to get home to look at it. I will write back later and advise. JD3 Oh by the way...I redid my system posts with computer down loads like you advise me...thanks

    System #174 (CLSIIz, SL3)

Brad, yes nice and clean WAF friendly. I use to have the SL3 and always wanted to hear them thru an Audio Research amp. I am still trying to figure out the Aragon preamp in your system...I am guessing your using it as a volume control? I have a volume control unit that I used to by-pass a Krell...

    System #171 (Odyssey)

LaserMark, WOW what a photo entry you have in your system, it made my head spin :) I was surprise that the Odyssey was a vast difference from the SL3 because dimensionally they are almost the same, both have the same width electrostatic panel. The Odyssey has an upgraded cross over and added...

    System #171 (Odyssey)

Jeff, I am just south of you. We have 4 memebers between the 210 and 60 and between the 605 to 15. E-mail me and I will give you more information. One person has 4 SL3's & Logos center in a 5.1 HT system; another had the Odyssey's as fronts, Logos as center, & Squals as rears but got a deal on...

Robin, oh i get it...just make a web site photo into a home computer photo. I was guessing that this web site worked by HTML codes and I couldn't get it to work. Thanks. As you can see I already added the photos instead of the URL codes.
