    Summits/ups

The speakers don't really pull that much current. I would suspect that you would be fine with like a 1000 watt UPS.

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

I liked my Descents a lot. I didn't have measuring stuff then, but they sounded pretty damn good. I am sure their new stuff will be solid.

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

I guess that I owe everyone a final review now that everything is finalized and I've gotten some listening time. I spent some time setting the JL back up, testing, comparing, and then finally setting the SVS back up and tweaking to perfection via placement and miniDSP. Here are my final...

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

It was up-ish, but was still pointing at the speakers at listening position. I don't care how they measure nearfield as I don't listen to them nearfield. As far as the 120hz dip, I am not going to deal with it.... there really isn't anything I can do. It is what it is, unfortunately.

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

Unfortunately, I don't have enough adjustability to hit a house curve and smooth the response without buying more gear. I have the bass turned up about 3db hot to compensate. I might order a minidsp and stick it in line. The graph is subs and mains with the mains crossed at 80hz. Any other...

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

I didn't try bringing them forward because the only other good position is going to be a rear of listening seat position and frankly I didn't want to deal with trying to get the phase right. I think that I would probably be causing more problems than I solved. Regarding the HF roll off, my...

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

OK, so here is how we ended up.... looks pretty clean over all. There is a room node at 120hz, but it is very small and is what it is, no reasonable sub positioning changes affected it. Now I need to do some listening. lol Smoothed bass response: Unsmoothed bass response: Bass decay...

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

I will post some more graphs after I actually get around to trying to dial them in correctly.

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

It isn't much different... a couple of 1.5 db squiggles.

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

Can't complain, right? I think after I EQ each one individually, I can get rid of the valley from 45 to 65 hz and it should be rock solid. When I get that done, I'll also do some loud measurements and see what the headroom really looks like.

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

This is what the initial response looks like before applying any PEQ at the subs individually....

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

Honestly, I did not spend very much time considering them. I wanted something with serious output capabilities and I don't think that they have it. I like the Descent design better, really.

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

I haven't only spent a little time optimizing so far, but it is already pretty flat from 13hz on with only about a 4db dip from 65-80db or so that I need to figure out. I'll post up some charts when they're done, but it should end up pretty even over all.

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

The subs have built in PEQ. I will measure, set level, phase, PEQ and then run Audyssey to finish it up. I haven't had a lot of time to mess with it, but with no configuration of EQ, just rough level matching and running Audyssey they sound pretty good so far. I would say that they're as...

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

They're big, but they don't fit in there too badly.

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

In my free time, I juggle JL F212's, unfortunately. lol. These are being paired with Summits and yes, in theory, the pair will create smoother in room response. I got them up and running quick and dirty last night without proper calibration and my initial impression is that they're pretty...

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts?

How do you know that you ordered a sub that counts? It gets dropped off by a Semi, on a pallet, using a pallet jack.... and there are 2 of them. I picked these SVS PB13 Ultra's up to potentially replace my JL F212. It is pretty sad that when I got them into the house and was unpacking them, I...

    'Coffe & Cars'

C5 and C6 z are both killer cars. I definitely liked mine and most likely will get another Corvette after the kids are old enough to go to school on a bus in the morning, but next time I want a ZR1. After having the LSA, it will be very hard for me to accept something that doesn't make...

Is the Stage X really worth $1800 more than the Stage?

Just to follow up on this, ML went beyond what I would expect for repairs. They found a minor wiring/solder joint issue when they went through the speaker and fixed it at no cost to me, just return shipping. Hopefully I'll get it back in the next week or so and can get it in place to verify...

    'Coffe & Cars'

Yea. It has bolt ons, E85, and a little bottle if needed.
