    Amps for CLS IIAs

My AES Sixpac's with 50 wpc have more than enough juice for my original CLS's. No rolling off of the high's either. I currently have the bass rolled off at 100hz to a sub and they will play much louder than I find necassary.

    Shanling CD Player Expirience

I am using a Placette passive preamp (i.e., not really a preamp, just a switching device with very high quality resistors to attenuate the signal). With a good source components, it definitely sounds better than all the preamps I have tried in my system.

    Summit's midrange

I'll raise your two cents! So you are saying that Martin Logan should design their high-end speakers so they will not reveal the sonic nature of amp, pre, source, etc.? If they do that, then they are no longer a high-end speaker. High-end speakers, Logan's or not, really start revealing the...

    Custom Acrylic Dust Cover

How stable is it? Could a bump knock it off the stand? I have been thinking about having one made for my table. Since I have kids, I am more worried about flying objects larger than a piece of dust. I was thinkink of making a lip that rests on the outside of the stand.

Will I be able to rip CDs in the future...NO!

I've yet to hear of any effort put into putting anti-copying code on to LP's

    2 channel Question

    System #47 (CLS)

Cool photo of the Champ 2. How about a pic with clear or blue semi-transparent album? What are you using as a light source?

    New vs. Used

Everthing used or DIY except the turntable, catridges, and tubes.

    System #61 (Odyssey)

Yes, cartridges can make a big difference. Still, the Arum shouldn't sound real thin. It may be a setup issue. It the platter level? Is cartridge properly aligned and have the correct traking force? As far as isolation goes, a wall shelf is the best way to go. DIY options are easy or you can...

    What's Spinning?

This batch just set me back 13 dollars and some change: Shorty Rogers Big Band - "Jazz Waltz" Chet - the lyrical trumpet of Chet Baker. Big Lucky, Big Amos, Don Hines - River Town Blues Gil Evans: Live at the Public Theater Vol.2 (New York 1980) Clark Terry/Bob Brookmeyer Quintet - "gingerbread...

    Amp. sugestions for Aerius...

You will fine testing with the Yamaha. Just don't crank it all the way up.

    Multi panel CLS

I would roll CLS's off a little lower. Around 100-125Hz and let a good sub hand the remaining frequency range. That is what I am doing with my CLS's in a two channel set-up.

worst sounding recording in your system

I have many, many great sounding LP's from that era? I didn't realize they were doing digital back then. :D

    Multi panel CLS

Why don't you just use another Monolith other large ML for the center?

    System #61 (Odyssey)

Clearaudio makes good, neutral tables. I have a Clearaudio Champion with Rega RB300 arm, Quint Wiring and a Heavy Weight counter weight. I am also using a Shelter 501 moving coil cartridge and modded EAR 834P phono stage. Before upgrading the table, I would go with a new cartridge. Your table...

    Impress the Ladies...

I had a 68 Firebird Convertible in highschool. Added Doug Nash swaybars, KYB shocks, new rims, low profile rubber. Had a lot of fun in that car. Both parked and rolling! Boy, come to think of it, I have not done four wheel drifts in years! Or, for that matter, had that kind of passion in a...

50 musicians who died too damn soon.

Happens far to often to musicians. Eric Dolphy is great that should be added to the list. In my mind, my grandfather is another. Though, he died before he became real popular. He had his own big band in the 30's. Spinal menigitis took him while he was in his late 20's.
