    Songs 4 Sex!!

In my defence, I didn't buy the CD - it was a gift. But as SteveInNC says, some Celtic music is actually quite good. -D

Are Tweeter and ML parting ways?

Oddly enough, a patient of mine today was affiliated with Tweeter and I asked him what the deal was. His response was to the lines of: "We all (even those of us that work at Tweeter) heard rumors that Tweeter was going to stop carrying Martin Logans. This was because Magnolia Hi-Fi was coming...

    New ML Owner

Agreed, but at the same time, I ran my Aeon's and Cinema off a Denon 4802 for a long time and it sounded fine. Obviously major improvements when I upgraded to seperates, but the Denon does a decent job of it as far as recievers go. -D

    Ahhh, the life....

Can it get better than this?? Doubtful :D An evening with nothing to do, good jazz, an uncomfortable couch, and a bottle of vodka to top it off. Absolutely awesome :) -D

    Songs 4 Sex!!

So do it in the stereo room next time and save your back the trouble of moving the Logans. I can certainly recommend NOT LISTENING TO CELTIC MUSIC during the abovementioned time. Happened as an accident once (forgot to change the cd) but we were laughin so hard we totally lost all interest in...

Yeah, all you people who work - I don't like any one of you! Audiology student. 1 more year. -D

    definitely off-topic

Not to change the subject but am I the only one who finds it hard to believe that particular lady worked at Hooters? -D

    Do you ever use headphones?

Sennheiser HD-600's driven by a Creek OBH-11 SE. Or if I feel like ignoring the world, Ears EM 3's (these are beautiful little items when there is a screaming baby the row behind you on an airplane). -D

    Listening levels?

95dB A SPL slow response is the OSHA criterion for a Time Weighted Average of 8 hours. If you "break" these rules you must use Hearing Protection Devices. This excludes impact/impulse noise as the peaks will be averaged out of the long term spectrum. I believe the U.S. Military standards use...

    A/B/A Testing of Audio Equipment

It depends on the purpose of the study. If you are looking for a match for personal equipment then A/B/A in a short term fashion may not be ideal; however, you will notice upfront differences immediately. Anything long term and you lose your initial comparison and then it's not an A/B/A...

Unrealistic Bass? How many actually hear Live acoustic music?

As much as I'm all about a flat frequency response, it really is not a very efficient way for people to hear. Obviously the manufacturers are trying to say, "Hey look, we're not introducing 'any' distortions on OUR part" but the ability of a human to hear various sounds is far from equal (refer...

    Impress the Ladies...

Amen for singledom!!! :D And speaking of impressing ladies, I had a new one over at my apartment the other day, errrr night, and she walked into the HT room, looked at some pictures that were sitting around (had been placed there before I was single so long ago) and walked out without ever...

    Anyone else have this?

I'm not surprised the ENT and Audiologist didn't tell you all this. Most people don't need to know it. I probably wouldn't have gone into it either unless there was a reason to. Tympanometry is basically a pressure test, yes. It starts off by presenting a continuous tone and then puts...

    Changing rail color?

Lacquer was the word I was lookin for. Thanks :) Didn't know about the rubbing compound though. Should I bother to do that to mine 3 months after I finished it with the last coat? -D

You never know who is reading our Threads?

To the powers that be (or Dear Santa): This Graduate Student would love to accept any defective merchandise which may be wasting space down at the good ol' ML factory.... :D -D

    Changing rail color?

I'm assuming you are thinking of a "piano black" finish? If so, it's a real pain in the ass. That said, if you DO decide to go through with it, I'd be interested in your results as I'm thinking of doing the same thing - I didn't think you can buy custom rails for Aeons ?? Their are a couple...

    Anyone else have this?

You're quite welcome. Like I said, if you've got specific questions I'd be happy to answer them. For what it's worth, I'd say the computer room was probably not an issue, but the guitar amps were :) Yes, chances are you're losing/lost some of your high frequency resolution. Happens to most...

    Anyone else have this?

4.7 should be 6kHz. We typically test from 250Hz up to 8kHz (in mostly octave intervals) to give a broad idea of how someone is hearing across the spectrum. Testing above 8kHz is rare as there is very little speech information that is contained in that area and "we are primarily concerned with...

    Anyone else have this?

Peter - whatever you tried to attach is not working for me. Link me again. I'll explain whatever you would like to know next time I'm sober. I will say though that your hearing is perfectly normal - the cutoff is 25dB and you're above that. By the way, ENT's shouldn't be tellin you a damn...
