A pair of 22 year old SL3's and a lot of Schiit...

Since we no longer de-claw our cats, that's the only reason I never went with another pair of Magnepan speakers. I've been really wanting to get another pair, but not with 60 (120 if you include the rear feet - LOL) razor sharp little fish hooks trolling the joint. The only thing any of our...

    Compact Amp for Ethos

I've had a few "digital" amps, Wyred 4 Sound ST-250, NuPrime STA 9, PS Audio Stellar M-700. Though they all had decent power and sounded good, there was just something about them that didn't sound quite right to me, even though the M-700's were the best and most powerful of the crop, they...

    Compact Amp for Ethos

Keep the B&K and get an amp stand for it. It's a better amp than any of the ones mentioned.

Not really. They don't touch them.

    Dampening loudspeaker (woofer) frame

If you guys want to dampen anything and actually have positive, noticeable results, focus in the enclosures, not the driver baskets. Yes, driver baskets will vibrate and ring in free-air, but that is nearly completely negated once mounted to the baffle/enclosure. What little vibration/ringing...

We actually have two large triangle shaped boxes that have worked out great for the six mews. Gets scooped out twice a day, full cleaned every weekend, and zero mess or odor issues. Friends and neighbors come over and can't even tell we have cats. LOL! Pretty cats you have there.

You could easily EQ the sound to taste, but then you're adding more crud into the signal. You'd be better off playing with speaker positioning and room acoustics to try and tailor the sound that way. That isn't what I said. I said we don't buy speakers to measure them. I didn't say that I...

Those are the stock adjustable spikes. They're actually quite neat as the bases are big cones, yet the adjustable spike itself is almost like a pointed water droplet shape. I haven't tried any isolation under the SL3's. To use something similar to what I have under the subs, the SL3's would be...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

If you're referring to the Talking Heads, I was yesterday, just didn't post it. More Songs About Buildings and Food to be exact.

Do I Really Need a Sub?

I'm not being impolite, I do understand the question, and I've made several posts about the situation. Let me give you a tip... You don't have to move the subwoofer a single inch to achieve 180 degree phase shift. Pretty much every powered subwoofer on the planet has a 0 - 180 degree phase...

Haha! That's a good thing! Thank you. We do get alone rather well! ;-)

That really doesn't matter. We don't purchase speakers to take measurements of them, and not everyone wants "accurate". That's like saying you desire a loudspeaker with a ruler flat response. No one in their right mind wants a ruler flat speaker. Imagine how dry, lifeless and boring that would...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

It's great to see people posting in this thread again! Seems that it just needed a little jump start again. ;)(y) Prince - Sign O' The Times... Extremely impressive sound!

    Dampening loudspeaker (woofer) frame

Not to bring up an old thread or rain on your parade, but if you bolt that woofer back into the enclosure, all of that ringing you just heard while holding it will be completely gone, since bolting it to the enclosure naturally dampens out any ringing in the basket. Take a tuning fork, hold it...

Do I Really Need a Sub?

We're referring to milliseconds of timing, not propagation of frequencies. A major difference.
