    CLSIIz improvements?

Hello Roberto, I agree 100% about the SL3's. My brothers were over last night and I played a couple albums for them that they chose, and all three of them mentioned how holographic the SL3's are, the amount of stage depth and center image size they have, and the very natural sound to...

    CLSIIz improvements?

The most powerful tube amps I ever had were integrated amps, a Consonance M100SE which I preferred with 6550 output tubes, and a Cary Audio SLi 80 with EH KT88's, both rated at around 45 to 50 watts per channel.

    CLSIIz improvements?

It's in my sig... The Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2. It's built like a tank, weighs in at 75 lbs, is measured at well over 500 watts per channel at 4 ohms, and is 2 ohms stable. Effortless power and sound with loads of dynamics (as far as electrostatics are concerned) and offers a really detailed, tactile...

    CLSIIz improvements?

I do love me some tubes! As much as I'd love big powerful tube amps, it's just not in the cards for me financially. Although I do have tubes in my preamp which still gets you that wonderful tube sound. I use SS amplification, and in the past used Aragon, McIntosh, Audio Research, Musical...

    Depth i

As I said in another thread, I ran the Schiit Aegir amps bridged mono into each sub without any issues, as well as a pair of PS Audio Stellar M700 monoblocks (which were true balanced from input to output), again with no issue. Theoretically, you shouldn't have any issues in your setup either...

Do I Really Need a Sub?

Well, no matter what kind of connections different manufacturers recommend or prefer, you heard for yourself in YOUR system just how much better subs can sound when fed a high level signal from the main amp(s). This has been my preferred method for several years now, and highly doubt I'll ever...

    Missing bass punch on Quest?

No fun in that. I actually enjoy mowing the lawn. It's instant gratification.

Or you could do what I did and get a "digital" mower. LOL Cordless that is. :alien: (y)

    Missing bass punch on Quest?

Yes, my father's is most likely due to age alone. He is 80 after all, and he noticed this increasing loss the past couple of years. The Dr said there's really nothing wrong with his inner ear , etc, etc, but age can be a cause of low frequency loss.

    Missing bass punch on Quest?

My father actually has a decent amount of hearing loss in the upper frequencies as well as lower frequencies, due to years and years of tuning pipe organs. A lot of the reed stops run on much higher wind pressures and can be brutally loud, especially when they're literally right in your face...

    Missing bass punch on Quest?

Was the change in bass sudden, or did you notice it over a period of time? Have you had your hearing tested lately? Sorry for more questions. I'm just trying to help figure out the issue. I wish I had a good solid answer for you. If all else fails, maybe try out a subwoofer in the system and...

    Missing bass punch on Quest?

And as I told you, I have been doing crossover upgrades for years, 25+ years in fact, and have never had any bad results from them. And pointless looking at the schematics when I don't have the actual crossovers in front of me to see what's what, the values and to trace it out. I just asked...

    Staying With Martin Logans

When you do your update, you can kindly drop off the Odyssey's at my house. :p (y)

    Missing bass punch on Quest?

I can't help but notice the four electrolytics on the right side of the crossover network. I imagine the two larger ones in the corner are probably for the woofer, if not all four of them along with that resistor. If so, it looks like you replaced everything BUT those. Also, I have done...

    Missing bass punch on Quest?

I was hoping I would have been able to see and answer this before you went out an purchased new drivers. But the quick and simple answer is "No". Other than a completely blown voice coil, the only other thing that can cause a woofer to go bad or sound "off" is a sagging suspension (spider and...
