    which are the newest panels?

As stated above, the "blow" or hiss that you're hearing is most likely from a bit of dust on the panels. Just leave them turned off for roughly 24 hours and then vacuum them front and back. That should either reduce or eliminate the hiss. Nothing to worry about at all.

    which are the newest panels?

Yes they are indeed. That's another thing I like about the older models. They even look better. The new ones look flimsy and cheap by comparison.

    which are the newest panels?

He has the Sequel II's. They're stated as being the same efficiency.

    which are the newest panels?

Yes, the clear spars (plastic crossbars) are the newer version, which is actually special double-sided tape. After hearing several new models vs a couple of old models including my 22 year old SL3's, I much prefer the older models sound.

Do I Really Need a Sub?

The nice thing about my JL subs is that they are small. Even on the IsoAcoustics isolators, the tops of the subs are still below the tops of the bass enclosures of the SL3's. And they are positioned about 8" behind the face of the SL3's. Honestly, if I were to go with Rythmik subs (which I was...

Do I Really Need a Sub?

I just wanted to start off with saying that in that last post of mine, that first paragraph sounded a bit harsh. I definitely didn't mean it that way, so I apologize in advance if anyone else sees it that way. Now back to the regular scheduled program... Running a single sub and having it...

Do I Really Need a Sub?

Well, for one thing, I wouldn't use a "stack" of subwoofers right along side Martin Logan's, or Magnepan's, or any other kind of dipole loudspeaker. You are essentially putting up a wall along side your speakers. Might as well just plant the speakers right up against the side walls of the room...

That's all correct. No fancy speaker cables required for the signal to the subs. Or if you wanted to, you could just run your good cables to your Prodigy's like normal, then run the basic speaker cables from the Prodigy's to the subs as well.

Do I Really Need a Sub?

Exactly. There's a reason why REL is known for being about the best "audiophile" and/or "musical" subwoofer company out there.

RCA is low level, a max of possibly 2 volts or so depending on your preamp and signal. An amplifier's output is a lot higher than that, allowing longer distance runs without worry of noise being injected into the signal. Also, I have yet to experience any ground loop hum with subs connected...

Do I Really Need a Sub?

Don't discount it completely just because "95% of the industry" doesn't recommend it, if that's even an accurate percentage, which I highly doubt. There's more to it than that apparently. Don't knock it until you try it. Not only did my old Polk subs sound much better with a high level signal...

The high level input utilizes a high impedance on a powered sub. All it's doing is using the amplified signal from your main amp as just a signal, nothing else. It's not using power from your main amp to actually power the sub or add power to the sub, nor is it taking any power from your main...
