    ESL high end

I'd suggest getting an external power amp to drive your ESL's. Doesn't have to be mega$$$... you can find some great deals on second-hand amps. I'd recommend Anthem MCA 20 or 225, Bryston 4B-ST or 4B-SST, etc. Your Denon should have line-outs for each channel - you can use those to feed the...

    MORE Isolation Feet?

What worked pretty well for me is: Heavy 24"X24" flagstones (terracotta, slate, etc., depending on ability to lift heavy objects and budget!). I placed large felt pads under the stones, and then used the ML spikes under the speakers, resting on the stones. The stone weight was between 70 and...

    Impression 11A in the house

I get that, but the external amp is not going to see an open- or short-circuit at the lower frequencies... I'm assuming there is a crossover that presents the equivalent of the speaker's nominal impedance as a resistive load...?

    Impression 11A in the house

Agreed, but isn't the amp still presented with a "load" at those frequencies?

After 30 years, return to M-L with "downgrade" and...wow!

Cool! They could probably use your enthusiasm at some of the Magnolia locations! Enjoy your tunes...

    ML Prodigy stopped working

At risk of stating the obvious, a whole-house surge protector is an often-overlooked but very worthwhile acquisition! I got the previous version of this Siemans unit a couple of years back...

New here but not to ML/Amp Upgrades Rec ?

I'll join in as a former audio techie/sales guy (a long, long time ago when I was in HS and college). For amplification and speakers, I've always visited the used market. For most of the last 20+ years, I've been switched on to Bryston amps (4B-ST's in particular, 9B-ST for HT). Those...

    New and curious!

Hi. Beautiful room! A lot of great input has been provided regarded positioning and room treatment. I am not THAT familiar with the ESL-X, but (there's always one of those, right?!) I would seriously consider adding a beefy power amp to the mix. Not about loudness in your room, but just...

    Upgrade bug is biting

When you say "Bi-amping", could you give some more detail on your configuration? Do you have 4 X Krell 350's? If so, how are you splitting the frequencies between amplification channels? Thanks

    Ciao a tutti from Italy

Something to consider is the good ol' Panel Washing (there's a dedicated thread on the subject here: https://www.martinloganowners.com/threads/martin-logan-shower-cleaning-pdf.12584/ There will be slight differences for different models, but searching (and emailing ML for a user guide on...

    ESL with a problem

Looking at the stats and power supply of the Fosi's, probably not a great match. As mentioned above, older Anthem MCA or Bryston 4BST/SST will get you there. I know the Class D aficionado's will clobber me for this, but if your power amp power supply doesn't weigh 20+lb, probably not going to...

Anatomy of a high efficiency high output electrostatic loadspeaker.

Referencing the chimes on Dark Side of the Moon... I always thought Alan Parsons produced Dark side, but it seems he was a sound engineer. Most of the whacky, high quality effects were products of his fertile mind. Apparently he was not aware that he could ask for a "slice of the pie", and was...

@DanR Wow - that was quite an offer! I wish (a) I lived in the area, and (b) I had ANY disposable income right now! GLWS Russ

    Dipping my toes

You should be able to find several (ebay, audiogon, etc.), BUT: 1) Make sure they have original boxes/packaging 2) Find out if they have original or replacement panels. You can ask for the PANEL (as opposed to, but in addition to the speaker) serial #'s - there's a serial decoder on here...

Anatomy of a high efficiency high output electrostatic loadspeaker.

@ESLFan - If Mr Wright did have info on the web, you can try using the "WayBack machine"... it has been crawling and archiving website info for decades! https://help.archive.org/help/using-the-wayback-machine/ This is a fascinating thread... thanks for sharing

    Changes in Tidal streaming service

I would've thought that they would start off with a pretty significant chunk of FLACs (originally rendered in FLAC or converted from MQA to FLAC), and then perform "conversions-on-demand" - i.e. as you select a (MQA) file to play, it gets converted to FLAC, stored & streamed to you (assuming...
