Upgrade Renaissance ESL 15A feet, any advice?

@ttocs Do you happen to recall the approximate length of the long thread adapters? My dealer sent the 3/8-16 adapters, but they’re only about 1 3/8” long overall, and the thread length that goes into the speaker is only 5/8” long. That sure doesn’t sound like “long thread adapters” to me.

    Ear Pain from ESL's.

The post above is #50 in the thread, and without reviewing the prior messages I'll risk repeating what's already been said. Before buying an amp, I'd look at the room effect and minimize any glaring (pun intended) issues. (As an experiment, you might try hanging a couple small rugs on the...

    A little big Help

I am not familiar with your amp, but I did an online search. On the surface, it seems it could or should be a good match. Do you have any audio dealers near you who could loan a different amp to test? The discussion on this forum about amps should expose you to a number of brands and models...

    ML uses inadequate power cables?

If you don’t appreciate “better” cables, don’t spend your money on them. If you do, go for it. Either way, enjoy the music (Edit: with a nice drink, if you like!)

    A little big Help

Hmm. Okay, that’s not insanely loud. I’d expect the 11A speakers to easily achieve that if everything is in good order. Hopefully that information triggers additional suggestions from other users. Are the speakers plugged into the PS Audio regenerator? I thought your post (#5 in this...

    A little big Help

Can you give us some sense of dB level (peak) when you notice the problem? If you’re hitting 98dB peaks before the problem strikes, that’s considerably different than 83dB peaks, for example. For this info, a phone-based app would be fine. There‘s no need for exotic gear. And… your English...

    A little big Help

I agree with Brandon. But... the person who responded juuuust before him - ttocs - is, in my opinion, one of the best resources for *that* specific problem, as he has lots of experience with complex audio hardware, placement and room correction. Given his simpler suggestion to check the...

Cable choices with your Martin Logans.

Everything I’ve read leads to the conclusion we simply don’t have the ability to measure and quantify (edit) *all* the differences. I'm sure that will eventually change, but for now that’s where we are.

    ML uses inadequate power cables?

On a 13a, the cables are providing power to the on-board woofer amp. It seems possible that power cables could impact bass tones, but I have to say the juice likely isn’t worth the squeeze.

Cable choices with your Martin Logans.

I have standardized on a couple companies for my cables, though I'm always willing to experiment if a trial period is permitted. For speaker cables I was using Blue Jeans Cable's Belden offering - the Belden 5T00UP. Their locking banana plugs are fantastic. But... I relatively recently...

    Review after a year in...

Thank you @JonFo. Therein lies the rub. I simply can't imagine any installation that will work well, aesthetically, with my setup. I have two hand-made Moroccan rugs hanging alongside the TV, to help with the main L/R speakers. The TV itself is an 83" and the bottom of it is maybe 2"...

@JonFo Does the C34 center also suffer from comb filtering issues, or does the angle of it reduce that effect?

Another Martin Logan price increase coming August 1st.

I really don't know, but I don't see a lot of discussions about their speakers failing or their performance reducing. I specifically asked the question and was told they are neither sensitive to UV light nor heat. Most of the comments I see are about the cloth being damaged, and Magnepan is...

Another Martin Logan price increase coming August 1st.

Thanks @MisterB. Okay - going wildly OT with this response. My brother was the family member who discovered Magnepans. I think he was in college (working summers - even in High School - making a lot of money for his age allowed some discretionary spending) and came home with some MGIIa (I...

Another Martin Logan price increase coming August 1st.

I will admit I'm quite a fan of panels, and I'm quite a Magnapan fan. I have their 0.7 as my "surround" speaker and their wall mounted MMC2 as my rear speakers, and they are brilliant in those roles paired with my ML front and center speakers, and subwoofers. My initial plan was to migrate...

Upgrade Renaissance ESL 15A feet, any advice?

Does anyone know how long the "long" adapters are for use on the 15As? When my 15As are delivered, I'm considering putting them on casters for a couple weeks while I break them in and work on finding the best position for them before installing the Gaia 1 feet. (I have back problems, so moving...

Another Martin Logan price increase coming August 1st.

Well, there's not a lot of "development" expense on this product line, and there aren't any new breakthroughs in related areas that can really improve them. The ESL tech seems quite stable, the line includes on-board amps for the bass range that by all accounts are outstanding and even include...

Another Martin Logan price increase coming August 1st.

@MisterB Huh. Must’ve been a Monday build… I have a 2012 Ram (Cummins) 3500 dually bought new in November 2012, and it’s been nothing but fantastic. Edit: to be clear, mine is the last year of not needing the separate diesel exhaust fluid. Perhaps the emissions change threw a wrench in their...

Whoa! Glad I ordered that from Shawn before the *prior* price increase. It was... dare I say "a steal" comparatively?
