    ElectroMotion ESL vs. Aeon I

Having had the Aeon i and the EM although the X version i can say the sonic signature is different. The Aoen i is closer to a conventionel LS with it's warmer sound compared to the EM X's more analytical sound. So in realaty it comes down to preference I think. I'm surev you'll be happy with...

    ElectroMotion ESL vs. Aeon I

Interesting the panels for aeon i, both bigger not any longer in production, are cheaper than the EM

    ElectroMotion ESL vs. Aeon I

The impedance drops, but so does the effect in high frequency, meaning that the Amperes are also low. I run bridged mode on 8 ohm Arcam P429 with the the ESL X fo more than a week and prevuously to that 5y on the Aeon i that I had for 18y. The X is defenitly a step up, but also a step up for the...

    Bad panel ESL X

Maybe wear some sort of rubber gloves. That would also prevent grease from your hands to end up on the panels

    Focus question

I can't hear any hiss from the C18 - what frequency are we talking, above 12Khz it might explain it.

    Focus question

An if you disconnect the LS cable at the amp. end what do you get - still hiss? I'd try to disconnect everything and add things one by one. that might reveal what causes the possible line noise.

what amp to use with Renaissance 15a

C18 is good. It has the same sound signature as all ML ELCs but just more of all than the c. Mine was a demo at 30% off which i audited (10s to get convinced) and another 15 min to get to the no return point bringing it along home despite the double up cost.

2021 new gen Apple tv 4k Dolby Atmos Problems

What center ls do you use? If an ESL centre have you checked that the transducer is working? That was what happened to me.

What amp to use with ML Source speakers

Interesting. This is what I have practiced for 5 years without facing issues and without losing the magic - at least I cannot hear any difference between my AVR rated at 4 ohms, the amp rated 4 (125w) resp. 8 ohms (270w) in bridged mode. Of course, I am not cranking it up to full level, but loud...

What amp to use with ML Source speakers

What do you think would be the risk? I'm thinking that most amps have some sort of protection. And the frequeces where the panels drop in impedance is also where normal music has the lowest loads. Of course this would still make the sound level roll off, but that could be compensated by the room...

    Impedance Anyone?

A solution cheaper than new panels though😄 well I replaced my Cinema i with the Focus - definetly not cheaper, but the repair would apparently add up to the same as a new C model. The sound in the focus is a few levels up and since I'll add the ESL X as replacement of my 18y old Aion i, it...

    Impedance Anyone?

That's what i suspected. And of course it will be persived as a loss. I'd think this will be compensated by room correction sw. This might explain why the sound level with/without Direc is more than 10db different. The curve I get is quite flat still rolling off at the high end but not dramatically.

    Impedance Anyone?

I see. I have deceided to go for electromotion X (1.8 ohm at 2o kHz) and hearig is down to between 12 and 15 khz anyway...

    Impedance Anyone?

That sounds logical. But does it not also translates to that the voltage you supply for hig frequency is less than for low frequency? Meaning tjat the.load on the amp is kept relatively down?

    Impedance Anyone?

If I'm not mistaken then the wattage in music is quite limited, hence I'd think that vertuallu no amp would face a big issue. But maybe someone can explain what wattage is nornal for the different frequencies.

    The ohms Trick

Yes always puzzled my. Mind you this was at lower volumes not near the peak, but at least i had sound while waithig my new device.

    The ohms Trick

And the wattage for high frequency is very low beside EL panels do not draw a lot of power. Again if you read ML's own statement there is no real issue for 8 ohm receivers. I had a Maranz AVR thousand of years ago, which in the beginning shot down frequently when playing too loud - got better...

    The ohms Trick

No need to worry. 200W is 200W - 2, 4, 8 ohms so it will olay loud and clear. But the issue is the heat it generates if you crank it up to loudly (and try to exeed the 200W as the 4 ohms essentially demands double up of current). I have a 8 ohm Arcam bridged p429 rated at 2×275w driving my...

    Speaker Cable Questions

Many things can be said, and is said, about cables. One thing i heard is the should be cut to half wavelenght. Never got a clear answer to what wavelenght. If there is square enough you're well of and sam lenght surely doesn't harm. Now consider the cables inside the gear. These are nowhere near...

Cable choices with your Martin Logans.

On LS cables surely there is a notable difference across different cables (some because the sound level changes a bit). The one giving the "correct" sound - I wouldn't know, so I go for what I like. And then it seems to change when recalibrating the room correction (so I ended with something not...
