Monoblock amps with ML speakers ? Advantage or not?

I am not sure how much your budget is. But if you are going to buy the 13A, you will not require a lot of power since the speakers are powered. So, unless you have a very generous budget, I would go with a humble XA30.8 or XA60.8 mono blocks. You will have that sweet class A on tap to...

Monoblock amps with ML speakers ? Advantage or not?

I have had the XP-22 for roughly two months now and have to admit it is a good step-up from XP-12. We are talking more refined texture, space, separation of instruments/vocalists, etc. You are going to benefit more if you go with the XP-22. I have the XA30.8 amp and it is a joy to listen to...

Move from Ascent I's to 13A's.

I am going to be brave and say, YES! I hope you have a chance to audition a pair in a local dealer. But MLs have come a long way. Good luck.

New Member, First time ML Owner

Does your receiver have preouts at least for the main front channels? If so, you only need to buy a nice two-channel power amp and simply let it power the front speakers. You do not want to bi-amp it by using the Denon as one of the amps. You will most likely have a gain issue not to...

    Home Theater vs 2-Channel Music

Those are great components, I am sure you will be a happy camper for a long time.

    Home Theater vs 2-Channel Music

If you really want to get the best of the two worlds, my suggestion would be to go with a pre/pro as opposed to a receiver. You will get more refined sound from surround decoding. Speaking of Marantz, they just released their new 8K-ready model for a reasonable $2,400. You couple that...

Pass Labs XP-22 Preamp In The House

Before I bought my XA30.8 amp (30-watt Class A), I had a couple of emails back and forth with the man himself Nelson Pass. Initially, I wanted to buy a First Watt amp, but Nelson indicated that would not be a good match. So he assured me that the Theos would mate very well with the XA30.8...

Pass Labs XP-22 Preamp In The House

Kent English is amazing to deal with. He will go back and forth until you extend the olive branch! Dave here may not agree with me, but I am sold on class A. Bear in mind XA amps can get into class AB and provide tremendous power. The fire power under the hood is just jaw-dropping. Even...

Pass Labs XP-22 Preamp In The House

Well, I envy your financial position. I wish I could have been able to buy the whole Pass family in one shot! For me it is saving up at a slow rate which makes the new gear ever so precious. I will definitely add more comments as the preamp is breaking in.

Pass Labs XP-22 Preamp In The House

I have had the amp for two years now. It has been a pleasure and it mates so well with the XP-22 as most likely the preamp has been voiced with this amp. I am completely out of discretionary funds!!! Theos will be around for a while. My next upgrade will be a DAC.

    Theos & Disappointing Bass Response

Yes, a good quality amp will ensure awesome quality bass from Theos. My Theos are backed up by a 30-watt Pass Labs class A amp - could not ask for anything more. I also have a Balanced Force 210 sub to augment 20 to 50 HZ.

Pass Labs XP-22 Preamp In The House

Hello everyone, I hope all is well. It has been a while since last time I visited these pages. But I am happy to report that after saving up for a while, I got the preamp last week and it is being broken and mating very well with the XA30.8 amp. Now my Theos are out-priced by the Pass duo...

    Subwoofer for Ethos?

As a Balanced Force 210 owner, I cannot recommend it enough. You should hear it before you finalize your decision - especially if you value the quality of the bass. It is lighting fast ideal for music playback - awesome on movies too.

    Hello from Denmark

Welcome aboard Batmobil. I really like your seductive language and double entendre as I subscribe to the same kind of humour. I am glad your ménage trois is keeping you very happy!

    Good sounding dvd/cd player

I have a Cambridge CXU universal player. It only shares the transport with Oppo. Cambridge uses Wolfson Dacs that are very good. I am very pleased with this unit. It has been replaced by the 4K version since last year.

BOTW P&P ECO 15-16V MKII - After Market Adaptor

Hi john, I have not pursed this any further as I am now saving up for a preamp (Pass Labs XP-12) which is going to take me a while! I might reconsider the adaptor upgrade down the road.

    System #542 (Theos, Motif x)

Antonio, Yes, it is pricey but worth every penny. As Roberto has eluded, Martin Logans demand an amp that can provide body and texture and that is why tube amps go so well with them. Pass class A amps, IMHO, provide 95% of that lovely tube sound but do it with gusto in terms of bass and...

    System #542 (Theos, Motif x)

As you move along this journey, you will realize it is not the quantity of watts but rather quality of watts which is important for faithful music reproduction. I am talking body, image, pace and accuracy. I personally have a Pass Labs XA30.8 which is a class A amp (near tube sound with big...

    System #542 (Theos, Motif x)

Hi Antonio and welcome. As a fellow Theos owner, I must say these speakers have a lot of potential. They love quality upstream electronics (who doesn't!). Once your wife appreciates the sound quality of your system, perhaps you can wedge in an upgrade path in due time, of course.
