Martin Logan 13A's and a subwoofer pairing question.

Amen to that, folks, at the end of the day, it is the music that moves you with emotions. it does not matter how you are recreating it.

Martin Logan 13A's and a subwoofer pairing question.

I said to do that in the presence of a capable/super high quality sub like 210/212. I have experienced with my own ears. There is a lot of bass information from 80 to 450 (or whatever frequency the panel hand off to the woofer). If you let the woofer just play those frequencies, you get...

Martin Logan 13A's and a subwoofer pairing question.

O.P., congrats on the subs. Generally speaking, when you run a sub or in your case two, it makes sense to run your 13's as small. You want the woofers in 13A to not get too stressed trying to produce sub-80 HZ notes. Again, best is to test it out and hear the results.

Martin Logan 13A's and a subwoofer pairing question.

Rich, I know you have a lot of skin in this game like I do. My days of being impressed by an 18 inch subwoofer are long gone. Quality over quantity is my mantra for life - not only for audio. I understand you have a large room and want that sound pressure to be massive - all the power to...

Martin Logan 13A's and a subwoofer pairing question.

I am with Robert. I take quality over quantity any day of the week. 2 Balanced Force 210's will blow away the other brands. If I make a correction, each subwoofer has a 1,700 watt ICE amp - very under-spec'd but over-delivered. Movie scores are not only exaggerated blow-up bass...

Martin Logan 13A's and a subwoofer pairing question.

I have paired my Theos with a single Balanced Force 210 and could not be any happier. The bass is taught, lightning-fast and well-defined worthy of the panels.

Help Talk Me Out of Upgrading 11A's to 13A's

I also highly recommend keeping your powder dry for the 13A. Do you have a Balanced Force subwoofer? If not, I highly recommend getting a 210 or 212. It will completely change your music in terms of deeper bass (naturally) but also in stage presentation and subtle differences here and...

This is so pretty. You are indeed one lucky fellow - good music and scenery. What else can you ask for?

    Ciao from Italy

I am not sure if your model has the MOSFET or bipolar output devices. MOSFET clearly sounds sweeter (tube-like). Having both Pass and Adcom, I can attest that Pass is way more refined as it should be since it is much more expensive. But you can find similar DNA in both products. Yeah...

Holo May Dac Level 3 in the House

Just ordered an iPad Air so I can start streaming. Most likely will sign up with Apple Music for now to be able to stream up to 24/192. This is a short-term solution until I get a dedicated streamer transport. Can anybody share their experience using Apple Music vs. Tidal/Qobuz?

    Ciao from Italy

Ciao, Stephano. Benevenuto! I have the Adcom GFA 7605 powering up my centre and rears. Your model was designed by the Man himself - Nelson Pass when he was commissioned by Adcom to design a few amps. That is a great piece. Your Amphions look amazing. Tell us if you want to enter...

Martin Logan 13A's and a subwoofer pairing question.

Even your two-channel music will be impacted when you add a very high quality sub like 210. The same goes for HT. You will appreciate the quality of the bass (i.e. pitch, definition, lighting fast response, etc.) on music and movies.

I would go with a or a pair of Balanced Force 210 or 212. You have 13As which demand a much more refined bass. I have nothing against the 1600x but it is like you got your Porsche 911 but want to install mid-grade tires. I have a 210 and it is amazing.

@roberto, we are so lucky to have you on this forum. You have been very humble but you are so talented. I truly enjoyed the track. Man o man, I just wish I had more time to sit down and enjoy this fabulous music....retirement is not here until another 10 years. I hope the Lord will give...

Holo May Dac Level 3 in the House

Thanks @roberto, I was also suspicious of the copyright protection enforced by Sony/Philips. One visit to Cambridge Audio's website confirmed that is the case. Oh well, I suppose I have to still let the player decode the DSD tunes for now. A computer set-up will not work for me. My...

Thanks @roberto for sending these great music links. I really admire your knowledge of music. I am crazy about upbeat latin music with lots of biting horns, percussion, etc. - big fan of Poncho Sanchez.

Holo May Dac Level 3 in the House

Hi @roberto, I was a bit frustrated last night as I could not get my SACDs played through the May. It simply does not lock. CDs and DVD Audios are playing well but not SACDs. I fiddled around with the output menu of the player making it to output bitstream, LPCM, PCM or DSD and the May...

Holo May Dac Level 3 in the House

This is a great recording, thanks for the link @roberto. Look at the space between the players. you can feel the treated room breathing....far cry from a "producer" with a fancy software and computer putting a track together.
