Balanced force subs and subs in general rant !... Why a 100K speaker needs a sub...?

Hi Brad, No disrespect! From your photo, I believe you own a CLX and good for you. I never implied that you did not work hard for your money. We average-income earners have to get the most bang for our buck. Sure, I would love to have ML's top-tier gear; but is not going to happen any time...

Balanced force subs and subs in general rant !... Why a 100K speaker needs a sub...?

To each his own! People with deep pockets will do anything to shore up their lives. But for the rest of us working people, we need to spend our money wisely and always be mindful of the Law of Diminishing Returns. I have cobbled together over many years a system roughly around $15k. The...

Can Impression 11A or Montis handle Rock well?

It is good knowing you too. Boy, those are great bargains which makes the enjoyment of your gear even better knowing you paid so little to get so much. I hope you will have an opportunity to hear the Balanced subs soon.

Can Impression 11A or Montis handle Rock well?

Hello Big D, I respect your decision to go with the RELs. They make great subs without a doubt. I auditioned a couple of RELs around $3K and as great as they sounded, I preferred the Balanced Force 210. 210's speed is second to none and the drivers firing in opposing directions ensures no...

Can Impression 11A or Montis handle Rock well?

I forgot to mention that I am filtering out sub-80 Hz from the Theos through my processor. The result is that now, the woofer in Theos handles the upper bass beautifully without any sign of stress/distress. The sub-80 HZ is handled by the 210. Like anything in this life, when you divide up...

Can Impression 11A or Montis handle Rock well?

You will be very happy with a pair of Montis. However, you should buy a Balanced Force 210 or 212 to anchor down the bass. It will really augment the sound of the panels. Since I have added a 210 to my Theos, my enjoyment of music has gone to nth degree. ML Balanced Force subs are...

Review of my balance force 210 w/ my system !!

I do not agree with your assertion. The very reason ML uses a sealed cabinet is to remove any standing waves and overhangs. I have enjoyed my 210 for the last two months. And let me assure you that the bass is punchy tight, lighting fast and accurate. I have the PBK and will be uploading...

New Balance Force 210 is in the house!

Gents, thanks for all the kind words. Roberto, gracias for mentioning the filter. I am aware of it. However, as I indicated, I am filtering out any sub 80HZ signal from the Theos. So the filter would be irrelevant in this case. I also discussed this set-up with ML and they agreed with me...

New Balance Force 210 is in the house!

Finally, this bad boy has arrived to provide the bass foundation to the Theos. I must say I am baffled by the amount of the improvement I am hearing. All the sub 80HZ is filtered to the subwoofer only; relieving the Theos and the Matinee. The result is phenomenal. I also have bought the...

    7ch to 2ch for movies

Let's not forget that surround set-ups are not only for movies. Especially with high-resolution music, be it multi-channel SACD or DVD-audio, there is no substitute - as it works for almost every genre. Too bad that Sony crushed DVD-Audio format. I got into it when it started around 2001 and...

    Looking at first ML purchase

Hello lone ranger from Texas, you have to realize that once you go ML, there is no returning. And eventually, all your speakers will be Martin Logans!!! So you are putting the ML foundation of your audio system. If you can afford to step up to a full electrostatic centre, it will be even...

From Montis to Salon 2's to Goldenear Triton One's (My speaker journey is here)

You hit the nail on the head, Roberto. I have also heard the Tritons and they are fantastic all-around speakers. But when it comes to reproducing human voice and strings, nothing can touch ML. I find it amusing how some are trying to convert us with so much conviction. Do they not know that...

New Cambridge CXU and Theos - Match Made in Heaven

I just picked up the latest universal player from Cambridge. I must say, it has given new life to all my CDs especially SACD and DVD audio discs. Same is true with BDs with HD soundtracks. The Theos just love the enhanced audio being fed through the 8-channel analogue outputs. Sorry Tom, I...

From Montis to Salon 2's to Goldenear Triton One's (My speaker journey is here)

I have heard Triton 2s and must admit they sound very good. Triton 1s are Motion 60s on steroids. But as most of us agree on this site, no speaker can match MLs when it comes to reproducing human voices and string instruments. And this is precisely why I bought my Theos.
