    Obsessive hobbies....

This is my latest "hobby" that's probably going to spiral out of control and take all my money. I picked up a super cheap 2004 Toyota 4 Runner V8 from a coworker and I'm going to turn it into a machine to tackle the Northern Ontario wilderness here in Canada. She's getting a new paint job...

    Panel rebuild guide?

I'd be very excited to see this happen, unfortunately I have no bad panels to give away. I don't think it would be hard to find someone willing to donate a dead panel or 2 seeing how often we see the old ones go bad.

    Three Channel Amp

Emotiva also makes some 3 channel amps I believe should be good.

    My apartment setup

Big old concrete building with thick walls, it's really not a problem. I can't really hear any of the other residents unless someone above me drops something heavy. I also don't usually listen to anything over 80db anyway.

    Prodigy transformer specs

Forgive me if this has already been asked somewhere else, but I'm assuming you have swapped panels from one speaker to the next? Also we really gotta work on getting these troubleshooting threads all in one spot, people post this stuff all over the place and it makes it much harder to see...

    Hello from VA USA

I believe someone over on DIY Audio did a test on how the tension on cold stretched mylar film will change in tension over time after the initial stretch. This could (maybe?) be why break in could be beneficial to this type of speaker. I have nothing to back this up and I'm honestly not a big...

    Martin Logan maintenance questions

Basically just panels are the only thing requiring some attention. If they're super old and dirty washing can bring them back to life, but it might also kill them of they're in bad enough condition so that's a last resort. I believe there's a few places you can send your panels that will...

    Custom ESL using quest panels

Unfortunately they don't list the transformer winding ratio on any of those prints. It's probably possible to measure the existing transformers as long as they're not fried, but I'm not experienced enough to say how to go about that.

@18000rpm have you tried getting in touch with Ron over in the service department of ML? He will likely be able to dig up some information on the OEM transformers that could help you narrow down a replacement.

    ELS 9 need repair.

Did you get anywhere with your panel issues? I just saw this thread now.

    Broken 60XT Binding Post

Got a photo of the broken post in question? There's no reason why you can't just swap them out to a binding post of your choosing. Alternatively you should be able to get in touch with the service department at ML, Ron works in that department and he's one of the world's most helpful humans...

    The risks of exploration, unknown!

The more you read about this incident the worse it gets. There were HUGE lapses in safety that were well known and documented but they pushed straight ahead anyway. The manufacturer of the carbon fiber hull had even stated to the submersible company that the material is only suitable for a...

Hypothetical Question - Accidents with Food/ Drink on ESL panel

The coating should be bonded to the panels like paint, it "shouldn't" just wash off but that's obviously no guarantee. New panels were $900 US for the pair plus freight from Kansas to Ontario Canada and mine were popping like crazy from all the garbage stuck to them. Again, I don't really...

Hypothetical Question - Accidents with Food/ Drink on ESL panel

That was me lol, simple greed has no chemicals, you can drink it if you like. But I only did that because my panels were badly caked with years of nasty buildup from previous owners. If you spill stuff on them and wash right away water should be all that's required if you're lucky.

Hypothetical Question - Accidents with Food/ Drink on ESL panel

Shower time Remove the panels and rinse them well, spray them down with distilled water afterwards to make sure you don't get any mineral deposits. Dry them with a vacuum

    I’m back!

Probably placement, also if those have built in room correction on the bass you might want to play with the settings a bit to get the sound how you want.

    Custom ESL using quest panels

In the very first post of this thread I have the part numbers and wiring diagram, but the Prodigy will not use the same ratio transformer. I was given the info for these transformers from @Jazzman53, if you shoot him a PM he could probably point you in the right direction. I'm not an expert on...

Stream audio & video to another room?

I don't know why I never thought of using a wireless HDMI transmitter, that's definitely the easiest way to go. I'll likely go this route at least to give it a try.

    Custom ESL using quest panels

After much thought as to how I was going to seal up all the key holes that pass through the side and top panels I settled on using 2 part liquid silicone. This was a great solution and it's really easy to apply. I was running a little low by the time I finished the second box and I likely...

    Custom ESL using quest panels

The boards are directly out of the Quest power supply but the transformers are aftermarket.
