    Obsessive hobbies....

That looks like a lot of fun, I always wanted an older air cooled Porsche but that's out of my budget. Nice to see other sports car owners driving them as they were intended. This is my local track, we don't do the oval as I believe it's for carts only. Also ovals are lame. I really do...

    Obsessive hobbies....

This was at Grand Bend Raceway in Ontario Canada. It's fairly local to us so we do lots of track nights in the summer

    Obsessive hobbies....

My favorite hobby, more than audio, track day Had a great group of people come out tonight, my dad's friend even brought his MG and took it lapping. I added a giant 9 Lives Racing wing on my Z06 last night and had spectacular results with it tonight. Downforce is so much fun, it adds another...

    ESL15As into a PS Audio P20

The speakers hardly draw anything, just plug them into the wall. As others said, a regenerator won't solve hum, that's usually a grounding issue.

    My apartment setup

Nothing super exciting here, but I did some cleaning and organization in my bedroom where I keep system #2 so I thought I'd share some nice photos I took with my new phone. My Marantz 2250 has issues so a giant stack of SAEs currently take it's place.

    Tube monoblock recommendations

M125 monoblocks from Tubes4HiFi are likely the most cost effective solution if you're looking for any decent power levels. I have a set myself that I used on my Aerius speakers.

    How to: active bass section

@Zwick I'm glad you found this guide helpful and are enjoying the sound, it really does make a substantial difference. I'm glad more people are breathing new life into these older but still fantastic speakers.

    Parting out Descent-I

I wasn't aware it was a servo controlled woofer, I have never played with one of those. Regardless, it's very easy to replace a built in subwoofer amplifier with one that's external. Many new pro amplifiers have all the necessary functionality to do whatever is needed DSP and crossover wise...

    Parting out Descent-I

You're totally bypassing the original amplifier, the driver itself accepts an amplifier connection just like any other speaker out there. All signal connection would be done on the amplifier you're adding.

    Parting out Descent-I

Someone pick this up and throw a Crown XLS on it, you'd have a great results for little money.

Advice on using a subwoofer in an apartment

Oh for sure, I just turn the volume down a bit. I almost never turn the subwoofer amp off and so far I've never had a complaint. Sometimes I play some music at a higher volume and go take the garbage out to see if I can still hear it in the hallway. Typically after I'm a few feet down the...

Advice on using a subwoofer in an apartment

This is probably the most important but right here. Just be respectful of those around you during the later hours of the evening and I'd imagine you'll be fine. Even in my cement tomb of a building I make sure to knock it off before 10PM.

    ABC...audio, bourbon, cigar

A nice indica is my go to 😜, doesn't do anything for pain but it does seem to help with insomnia and relaxing.

Advice on using a subwoofer in an apartment

I actually have 4 12" subs stacked up in the corner of my 1 bedroom apartment lol. When I used to run just a single subwoofer I found that decoupling it from the floor with some nice big rubber feet cut down the vibrations down a lot. I used these with really good results, definitely recommend.

Ethos vs Vista, Active Bass vs Passive Bass

I think you'll be happy with the decision you made, you'll enjoy those and they should last a very long time. With the price of replacement panels it's almost more worthwhile to just buy another used pair of Martin Logan's everytime panels need replacing.

Ethos vs Vista, Active Bass vs Passive Bass

I'm very skeptical that sticking a fancy box in between your speaker terminals makes any difference. Unless they're bypassing the internal crossover and adding an external one basically in the middle of the binding post jumpers. Strange either way

Ethos vs Vista, Active Bass vs Passive Bass

If it was my money I'd likely go with the Ethos - active bass out of the box - DSP capabilities - newer panels I have no idea what that little black box leading to nowhere is hooked up to the Vista. Without incoming and outgoing connections I can't imagine it's actually doing anything.

Wanted Wanted: Rubber foot for Spire

Pretty sure ML uses 1/4" threads so you should be able to buy some feet off Amazon.

Hifi Zenit - anyone had them rebuild panels before?

I think one other guy on here used them with good results. I'm not sure who it was or where that thread is though.
