MLO lurker for a few years...time to give back

Welcome! Quite a setup! I had SL3's and really liked them. Enjoy

    CLS owner intro

Sounds like you have the original panels. If one plays softer than the other one that could be a sign they are on their way out. Martin Logan will make you a panel set (pricey about $3000) and will take 3-4 months. If you love what the speaker does then it's worth it. Very unique.

    CLS owner intro

Welcome! CLS is an amazing speaker. Out of curiosity, do you know the age of the panels? This may be significant if they are original and quite worn out. I just re paneled a pair of CLS II and it was quite a difference. Do spend time with placement as a few inches this way or that make...

JL Audio Fathom 113 for sale Version 1

This is version 1. Highly respected subwoofer with tons of reviews. 8/10 due to age but in perfect condition w/ box, manuals, mic. I was using it with SL3's but the 11A has more than enough bass for me. Local pick up in DE only. This is a beast and the box is huge. $1800.00

Recommendations for repair shop for my ML Monolith 3 Active Crossover ???

Sorry, can't help you there. Did ML service have any suggestions? Good luck.

FS ESL 11A gloss black 3 months old 7000$

Did you hear the 11A's properly broken in and set up correctly or did you get them solely based on your friend's advice? This may be a silly question, but are you new to ML stats? Just wondering if you have experience with previous models and their idiosyncrasies. All we know is that you...

Appreciate your thoughts on the Backert. I use a Premier 16 II now and not sure if it would be worth refurbishing once it starts breaking down. I guess I could check with CJ but imagine it's pricey. I will definitely check out the Backert. Thanks

FS ESL 11A gloss black 3 months old 7000$

200 watts/channel should be more than enough with the 11A. I am new to Mac -with a MC1502 now and love it. Agree, older ML's without the powered woofer needed big power to sing. I don't think it will matter what you connect to the 11A for now- they won't sound right till they break in. Good...

FS ESL 11A gloss black 3 months old 7000$

As a fellow 11A owner curious why you are selling. When I got mine I was ready to sell also because they sounded terrible out of the box - thin, tizzy highs, no bass etc. Mine sound great now after 9 months. There are others here that have documented the lengthy break in. Just a thought...

    Advice...

I also vote for going with a newer ML. The 11A is wonderful even though the CLSII is still great and makes a bigger visual impact. I agree w/ Roberto, the newer ESL offers loads more detail and easier to drive. Always check w/ Shaun at DaVinci Media as he places notices here...

Welcome back. Beautiful set up. How do you like the Backert preamp? I was talking to Mr Tebbe about trying one out but lost touch. Enjoy!

30 years later I still hear about my wife's 5th Anniversary present. Over 1 1/2 years I restored a 73 911 Targa -she drove it a total of 5 times. Live and learn. Got to know the Delaware PCA group during that time, 2 Driver's Ed events and just a great group of people. Triple downdraft...

Looks like this thread got hijacked by the Porsche folks- apologies to the OP. Suggest post your 911 pic on the off topic forum. I have a feeling there are some PCA members lurking here. Look forward to seeing them!

Welcome James. The fact that you have had them 11 years speaks to how wonderful ML stats are. To steal from another brand tag line "....there is no substitute" Enjoy!

    ML ASCENT

From what you describe, my impression is that your panels have aged out. You can try the shower wash. Other members may have a more formal troubleshooting method. Good luck.

Should I Re-panel my CLS IIz or Replace Them with a Newest Pair of ML?

I second replacing the CLS panels, especially since you have the sub. There is no equivalent for that price where you will get such detail, depth and intimacy. Enjoy!

Should I Re-panel my CLS IIz or Replace Them with a Newest Pair of ML?

I had SL3's for 20 + years and bought 11A's (took 7 months for them to break in). In the interim came across CLSII and replaced panels recently. The CLSII are wonderful in their own way. You would need 1 or 2 subs with the CLS also. I think if you are happy with the SL3 , you...

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Glad you found them again. For most us Steely Dan stays in heavy rotation. Also, Donald Fagen is alive but Walter Becker sadly has passed. Check out True Companion. That gem sounds amazing on the ML's. Enjoy!
