    Expression 13A rake/placement suggestions

Agree with ttocs- these speakers need serious time to break in. The listening fatigue is real ( and scary) when they are new. Save your time for now w/ trying to fine tune it. Just play the heck out of them for the next couple months and try to be patient. It's hard but you will be amazed...

    New to ML

Welcome- Also another 11A owner. Takes at least 3 -4 months to settle in. After that experiment with placement-a lot. Check out the video posted by ttocs in recent Impressions setup post. Enjoy

    Impressions Setup - Flashlight Technique

Thanks for posting this video. I also found it very helpful. In the end, it's ok for the speakers not to be exactly the same distances and the fine tuning is all done by ear.

    Impressions Setup - Flashlight Technique

Sounds like you are in the right direction. The flashlight method is a reasonable starting point but you are clearly listening for the best results. Trust your ears. Same applies to the other positioning parameters. Enjoy.

    VTL MB 250 schematic

As far as VTL support , you are on your own with these amps. Between trying to identify a reputable repair shop, shipping costs etc, it wasn't worth it for me. My EE friend has been working his way through them and ended up buying them from me. The B+ fuse kept blowing but has settled with...

    Hello Fellow Music Lovers

Beautiful combination with the CJ front end and need that sub. Definitely experiment w/ placement ( I'm talking millimeters). I'm sure it's wonderful sounding. Glad you are so thoroughly enjoying it. Welcome!

    Hi Everyone

Welcome! That is going to be a sweet setup. Placement is also critical. There are many guides which are a good starting point but after that just play with the variables and tune to your preference.

    Hello Martin Logan Lovers

Maintaining them was easy and very reliable for 12 years. The issues were just age related. I had the caps replaced ( quite a puddle of oil under the amps) . Then the B+ fuse kept blowing and my technician just said they are plain old. I considered sending them to an amp repair/restoration...

    Hello Martin Logan Lovers

Thanks. The VTL MB 250's were my all time favorite for 12 yrs. 225 watts triode! Unfortunately I did not have the skill to keep them running as they aged but did end up selling them to a good friend with the electrical know how to fix them and he absolutely loves them. He also got my...

    Speakers Against Wall

My take was that instead of measuring distances and having them be exact is that you can tune placement with your ears and the end result is that the speakers may end up not exactly conforming to a formula but a result that depends on the unique characteristics of the room ( sloping...

    Speakers Against Wall

I finally tried this last night and was impressed with the initial results. The first thing I noticed is how lively the bass became. The center vocal is much more challenging and has endless permutations with miniscule changes in toe in and rake. It's definitely worth trying, with...
