Monoblock amps with ML speakers ? Advantage or not?

It's not the ESL portion of Odyssey that's the problem for any amp, it's the passive bass xo. So go active in the bass only, and they'll sound as good as the new ones.

Move from Ascent I's to 13A's.

Not a dumb question! If they're Ascent 'i' (with Gen2 panels and aluminum cone woofer) then with a $100 active xo (plus an amplifier) you can make them active xo in the bass, and bump up their bass performance. Rolls SX45 would work....

    DC Blocker

In our house, our printer turning on made my amp's transformer growl, so I made one of Rod Elliot's DC blockers. But that was just to stop an annoying noise, not related to any chance of damage. I attempted to check the peak "DC" voltage at the DC blocker a few times, and it was never more than...

    Sl3 bass resonance

Fix only what's broken (bass passive xo). Stop making excuses, and use an ANALOG active xo on ONLY the bass!

    Martin Logan Montis issue

If a portion of the panel is making sound while another portion is quiet, then try squeezing the stators together along the right and left edges to encourage making a better connection between the copper charging strip and the diaphragm.

    Sequel2 subwoofer

Does Sequel 2 use a 10 inch 4 Ohm woofer in a sealed box? If so, then the same woofer recommended for SL3 and Ascent would work technically, but you must make sure the new basket OD fits into the counterbore of your Sequel 2 or make alterations. I recommend you repair or replace as pairs. Woofer...

Diaphragm tension runs top-to-bottom only. If there were tension along the curve, the diaphragm would 'saddle.'

Summit X vs Mantis Bass Performance ?

If your SL3's replacement panels are of the newer Gen2 clear spar type, then they have many years of life remaining. You can bring the SL3 closer to the bass performance of the newer active bass ML hybrids by using an active xo on only the bass. It's not just lower bass, but more tuneful and...

You need to keep them from separating while out of their enclosures. Likely the rubber weatherstripping behind the panel has shrunken from age and will need an additional strip of rubber or foam to restore the original clamping pressure when reassembled.

    Considering buying ML Ascents?

Only buy the later Clearspar version (Ascent i).

    Sub woofers

Yes, active xo is done with op amps. But you can still use the passive high pass xo to the panels and avoid op amps there, while using an active op amp-based xo on only the bass (requiring another amp and bypassing the stock passive bass low pass section of the xo).
