    Needing help with Ascent's

Don't lose track of that non-working board, as it may be repairable! If you have the opportunity, I wouldn't mind seeing a close-up photo of it.

I purchased a Depth i today and I live in Europe. Can I connect it to a 220V? Thank you

Sorry about the bad luck, RazvanG! But it works on your step-down transformer, right?

    DIY Repair CW10

If you suspect a failing PS cap, you could connect a working cap of the proper voltage in parallel with it (on the back of the board?) to confirm. I have not seen schematics for ML subs in general, but if you post pics on diyaudio.com you'll get many experienced eyes on your problem.

I purchased a Depth i today and I live in Europe. Can I connect it to a 220V? Thank you

I expected the re-wiring to not need any parts, so perhaps they misunderstood you?

I purchased a Depth i today and I live in Europe. Can I connect it to a 220V? Thank you

Interesting! So perhaps the same 'anti-50Hz' circuit is still in the ESL models? On diyaudio.com a member explained how that circuit worked, and it seemed suited for a ESL HV circuit, but perhaps not as suitable for a sub? As I remember the story it was the British ML dealers in the late 80's...

I purchased a Depth i today and I live in Europe. Can I connect it to a 220V? Thank you

Gvera, thanks for your report. As I understand it used to be quite different in years past, where ML discouraged gray imports from USA and used a circuit which did not energize correctly if 50 Hz was used. Or perhaps whether ML HQ helps foreign customers directly depends on whether there is a...

I purchased a Depth i today and I live in Europe. Can I connect it to a 220V? Thank you

Yes, that might work until you get it rewired. Make sure it's heavy duty enough to power a subwoofer amp.

I purchased a Depth i today and I live in Europe. Can I connect it to a 220V? Thank you

No, as the sticker indicates it's wired for 120V. Hopefully it can be re-wired internally for 220V.

    Vista capacitor replacement advice

Going after new caps on a speaker with other issues is like searching for your car keys under the streetlamp because it's brighter there.

    Needing help with Ascent's

On the one hand those 3M adhesives were pretty good, but on the other hand those 3M adhesives are 2 decades shrunken up, dog knows what will happen if they get wet! I imagined a bathtub full of special water and an ultrasonic wand to agitate...

    Needing help with Ascent's

Yeah, that hurts! Showering is a last resort before ordering new panel$$$. If you're having other problems you should look into that first. It could be that a panel like yours that hasn't been charged up for a while needs a whole day (hours) to charge fully (and the music sensor keeps switching...

How much for the whole board? 10 years ago I had a bad T1 on my SL3, and ML sold me a new one for under $20, and that transformer looks the same as on my Ascenti....

    Vista capacitor replacement advice

You've read the shower thread right? Lots of opinion in there on detergents and water chemistry, and I have never done this myself, but only followed along in ESL and ML history... To me it appears the original ESL panels made from self-adhesive foam stators are most susceptible to dirt build-up...

    Vista capacitor replacement advice

All the caps in the ESL portion are already film caps, so no refurb is possible there. There is an electrolytic cap parallel to the woofer, but it won't affect your top end. So, yes, it could be that your panels are so dirty that they are either not holding HV charge, or the charge is bleeding...

"Clean the panels"? Something going on? Or just upgrade fever? The caps are FINE.

    Impression switch on and off

Regarding the crackling noises, the amp is a red herring! But yes, you should be using a much nicer sounding amp on the top end. In the Ascent'i' manual it is written: Popping and Ticking Sounds, Funny Noises These occasional noises are harmless and will not...
