If you're hearing some faint sound from it, perhaps the mid-woofer is blown, and you're only hearing the tweeter? I think you have to pull the front grill off (with wire hooks?) to access anything.

Do other amps make your Aeon i pop? Isn't the new pop related to the new active bass change? (I agree it's unlikely for both to develop same problem at the same time.)

Have you ruled out the Musical Fidelity amp causing the popping? An amp with a bit of DC offset would make a pop at turn-on....

No, the panel fades out unless the wires pull loose. I had transformer T1 go bad once on my SL3, but other things which fail are the Triac and the op amp.

Go active xo on the bass, and you'll discover quick tuneful low bass from those Odysseys.

ALL bass is slow, so active bass is fast enough. But passive bass is just mangled out of control....

More than 10 years ago I was able to get one transformer directly from ML and solder it in myself. But the "easiest way possible" is to buy the whole HVPS board. Call ML and see what they say!

Roger Sanders uses TL bass in all his ESL hybrids, but with active xo top and bottom (whereas Vantage only uses active xo in the bass).

Vantage is special among all ML's in having transmission line bass. Fold up a towel and block it off for a listen!

This sounds more like an ESL panel separating or cabinet structural problem than a low HV problem. All your highs are still there, from all over the panel?

Already sealed is great! From online images the Request woofer appears sturdy enough, so try a bit of bass boost to taste?

Request is ported, right? If you have DSP you could block the port and try a Linkwitz transform, a low end boost that requires a sealed box - and a FAT amp! Here's info on the stock Eminence 12 inch, copied from this post...

Good on you for already bi-amping! Could you not squeeze in a stereo pot before the inputs to the amps to control the bass level?

While it is possible, I don't recommend adding resistance to drop the level, as it further reduces the amplifier's control over the woofer (ruins the damping factor) and makes it even more muddy (and the passive xo makes it too muddy already). But if you didn't want to go to an active xo on the...

The triac is simply connecting ground to the bottom of the diode/capacitor HV ladder, so if you short out the triac (which is what the MS would normally do), the HV ladder should energize...
